congratulations :woohoo: :woohoo:

there are so many places to eat at WDW....
'nice' restaurants that we have enjoyed:
-- Citricos at the Grand Floridian (we love this restaurant)
-- Brown Derby in MGM

fun restaurants that we enjoy:
-- 50's prime time cafe in MGM (we always eat here at least once each trip)

character meals we've enjoyed:
-- Chrystal Palace at the Magic Kingdom (we really enjoyed the breakfast here)
-- Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club resort (breakfast)
-- Chef Mickey's at the CR (dinner)

just plain old restaurants that we enjoy:
i can't remember either of the names
-- the Grand Floridian cafe (i think it's called) - just a regular restaurant, but we enjoyed eating there and thought the food was good
-- the Main Street restaurant at the MK (i think this is what it's called - at the end of main street right before tomorrowland) - we eat lunch here at least once each trip - we like their tuna sandwich

Counter Service:
-- Earl of Sandwich at DTD

we liked Liberty tree tavern. Also loved yachtsman steakhouse, it its 2 credits though.

we have just booked up the disney dining for free as well but we are going from 22 sept 08 for 21 nights i cant wait. i was such a good deal and i think the changes that they have made are not that bad i feel really sorry for the waiters and waitresses before because they get most of their wages through tips which they didnt get through the old disney dining plan

We're going to POR next August too :yay: When are you there? We're going 14th to 28th :thumbsup2

As for restaurants you must try and get LeCellier the steak is awesome. My DD's love CP and CRT was nice but I wouldn't go again. We also enjoyed Coral Reef but mainly for the atmosphere, watching the turtles, than for the food. Kona and O'Hana's were both good too. Check out the Dining Reviews here on the DIS or the food porn thread!

Hi,
Just got back this morning from a 14 night stay at PO, with free dining!! I daren't weigh myself though...the amount of food was TOO much....I just could eat the amount that we were allocated a day!!! We ended up with 11 Counter service meals left!!! We couldn't even give them away as America is now on Free Dining and everyone we tried to buy food for said they were on free dining!!! (By the way, it was getting very busy because of this, Halloween Parade and the free dining for the US and UK...seemed to be a cross over period).

We were on the old dining plan so the new one should still be plenty of food. By the way, tips were included on our plan, well they were as of yesterday...18% staff recieved in tips.

On the first night when we arrived we ate at Boatwrights at the Riverside, and I must say it was one of the best meals we had, steak was very good as were the Craw Fish Cakes, and I enjoyed it as much as I did the one I ate at Le Cellier, worth thinking about.

We also too really enjoyed Coral Reef for Atmosphere. 50's Prime Time was fantastic for the experience but the WORST Ceaser Salad I'd EVER tasted!! Le Cellier very good but I did feel a little over-hyped.

All I can say to anyone going during the free dining for the UK & US is to book all your table reservations 90 days in advance. We ended up cancelling some as we decided to explore florida for a few days and others just because our 1 & 3 yr old were just TOO tired, when we tried to book a few when we were there to use up our table service credits, we were almost laughed at!!! Everywhere was totally booked up. So don't leave it to chance!

The other thing I was going to suggest is that yesterday as we were leaving at 11am, we used one of our table service credits at Boatwrights for breakfast, which was great. A really relaxing start to our journey home and the Eggs Benedict were gorgeous.

I would book your ADR's at 180 days out, ring at 12pm our time as that's when their lines open, I did that and I got CRT and LeC well actually everything I wanted for our last trip in August. :goodvibes

Book up as much as you can. We were there in August and made good use of it all. On our last day, we used our last C/S tokens for goodies from Earl of Sandwich and ate them when we arrived at the airport - worth it as meal on plane wasn't up to much. We found by booking the character meals, it saved us time in the parks queuing for autographs and photos. Have fun!!

My cousin and his wife and baby live in Spain. They would like to join us in Disney next year. ( We have free dining from 27 sept to 7 oct). Can they book this through the Disney website? Should they call a travel agent? Can they even book this since they live in Spain? Thanks for any info.
