Free dining?

We called today to put down our deposit for our August trip, and the rep said they haven't announced anything yet. We're waiting for it, too.

From what I've heard, they usually announce it in the beginning of April, so check then.

Hope this helps!

I've heard the same thing as vcapone...it pretty much says that on every disney website you can find. They all say "wait and see." I know it's a drag. We were hoping for it before we book our trip. My sister got it last year and it was announced April 1st she said and they had to go in August or September to get it.

You can be sure that as soon as anyone here hears/reads anything reliable, there will be a new thread posted with a very clear title, like, "It's back!!!!" :) Also, I'll be sure to post the information to the Dining Plan FAQ the moment it is posted.

We made our reservations and posted our deposit yesterday also. Now we are sitting on pins and needles to see if we get free dining! We are considering pushing the trip back a month or so if they don't offer free dining, so we are in a holding pattern indefinitely. :rolleyes1

First I just want to say what a great job you all do with the postings. I have so much information that I am confused. If someone could post back that would be great. If I rent my points from a DVC member staying at the BWV would I also have a chance of free dinning? We are hoping to be there in August.

Thanks,

Belladonnadb

Unfortunately you can't get the free dining if you are using DVC points. You can purchase it which is still a good deal if you plan on eating at sit down restuarants.

To get the free dining you need to book room and at least a 1 day pass to get the dining through Disney.

We ain't guaranteeing anything. If we were the wagering type, however, we'd bet that free dining will be returning for travel dates 8/26 through 9/22, if booked 4/12 through 6/24. As always, those dates are subject to change.

However, this doesn't make much since, because Disney would get a rash of calls with folks switching from the 40% discount to the Free Dining Plan. It makes more since for Disney to off the Free Dining BEFORE the 40% plan takes affect. JMHO

That rumor is making the rounds this morning, ayup. Still no indication if it will be a targeted offering or open to the public, or whether or not it will apply to all resorts or just some of them.

Just realized - not supposed to post other web sites. I got the info from touring plan web site.

There is no ticket purchase required if you are on DVC points. However, no free dining plan as stated above. You pay the regular $38.99 for adults/$10.99 for children. You need to compare the room discount with using DVC points to the cost of the dining plan.

I don't think everyone will switch from the 40% discount to free dining.
Depending on which resort level you're staying in, one discount is better than the other.

If the rumor is true about free dining, it says if booked 4/12 - 06/24. Our vacation is already booked and I am in the travel dates. What would happen? Would I still be able to get the free dining? I guess if it came down to it I could cancel and re-book, but I have travel insurance, and I would be out to the money. Any ideas how this would be handeled if you already have reservations?

You'll have to rebook. The resort you booked, may not have free dining openings during your dates.

Guest from the UK were able to book free dining last fall. People staying on site last December were also able to book free dining. When free dining bookings opens next month, some of the resort MAY have spotty availability.

So if I have specific travel dates in mind for that time frame but have not yet booked should I wait to book?

Thanks!

:welcome: to The DisBoards soccormom! This has happened two years in a row for us. :upsidedow We were already booked both times and then the free dining was announced. We simply called and the code was added to our reservation and "Wha la!" Free Dining! :thumbsup2
