What is free dining? Will someone please explain how it all works??

Free dining is a promotion that Disney has offered the last 2 years. The requirements were that you had to book a MYW (Magic Your Way) package which included hotel, theme park tickets and dining for everyone on your reservation. The discounted portion of the package was the dining plan which you got for free. Tickets and hotel are paid at rack rate in order to get the discount and it applied to travel dates in Aug./Sept. which is the beginning of the slow season (hurricane).

Normally the cost of the DP (dining plan) was $37.99 for adults and $10.99 for children and this covers tax/tip. The DP includes 1 snack under $4.00, one CS (counter service) meal and one sit down meal per person. If you booked a 7 night package you'd get 7 days worth of dining.

As for '07, the price of the DP went up just a tad and is $38.99 adults/$11.99 children. It is unknown at this point whether free dining will be offered again to U.S. residents. UK residents are currently being offered free dining for Aug./Sept. '07.

US residents have been about to book the promotion from about April 1 to about June 25 (for visits during the heart of hurricane season, as Castillo Mom mentioned.)
