I have a question regarding free dining. I will be staying at the contemporary 9/9/06-9/16/06 and I received the free dining option when I booked. A friend of mine is staying the same time that we are at a Disney resort as well, and she was not offered it. She has pleaded with numerous disney employees to attempt to get what everyone else is getting, and they are telling her that you had to request it when you booked. I know that I didn't request it, since I wasn't even aware of it. Can anyone make sense of this????

You do have to request it when you book. You may have given the code or a CM just automatically gave it to you. BUT it was a code and you DID have to request it. The booking period for free dining is over and your friend will not get it.

When i booked, i remember i switched my vacation from Nov. just for free dining and as he was reading back to me everything i had gotten, I said okay okay (you know when your brain just kinda gives out?!) and as i was about ot hang up i was like "YIKES!!! does that include free dining" and he said no..oops! i almost forgot the WHOLE purpose for booking! :lmao: so he added that onto my package and it was all good :)

Thanks for the info. I'll let her know. She's really kinda kicking herself, though. She wished she'd have known that you had ask. I truly don't recall ever requesting it myself. She's still looking forward to her trip anyway.

:guilty: Sorry she didn't get in on the deal.

Could it be there's something different about her booking than yours that made hers ineligible for the free dining? Does she have AP's and did she book as "room only" instead of as a package? Maybe she might not have booked exactly when it was offered either - you had to book it as a package by 6/25/06 - and you had to take the package with the room at rack rate and at least a one day ticket for everyone in your party - plus all in your ressie had to be on the same deal.....

If she is on a Magic My Way package (room with tickets), I think she can still add the dining plan to the package for $37.99 per adult (ages 10 and up) per night, $10.99 per child per night if she wants to:

Agree. Did she call WHILE it was being offered and buy the WHOLE package (tickets and everything!) Travel agents would tell her "see, this is why you need a TA" but as long as she keeps informed on what is going on she would have known about it. Disney advertised it in the papers and everything.
