Well, I have been a bad little pre-trip reporter, haven't I?
Um...I'm saving up all the good stuff for the actual trip report? Will that excuse fly?!
Not much has changed in our pre-trip planning. In mid-July we confirmed our wedding date for next March, so we been a little focused on doing some planning for that.
Even the usually mellow DF, who has laughed at me for months when I get all excited and start talking Disney at dinner, is getting excited. When he kissed me goodbye on this way to work this morning, he looked me with a big grin and said, "ONE WEEK!!!" We must be close if even DF is giddy!
The to-do list this week is long, which isn't helped by two events at work that will require long days on Monday and Tuesday (and possibly even some office time tomorrow, Sunday

)
The big thing besides the obvious chores of laundry and packing is a trip to Costco. I normally refuse to hit Costco on a weekend...the lines are way too long! But, I may have to break down and go tomorrow. We plan to get a couple cases of water, granola bars, and almonds to snack on for breakfast in the room and during our long drive to and from Disney. I think I'm also going to get a large flat of eggs to hardboil and take with us in the cooler. DF has been tasked with making a huge fruit salad to also take down for breakfasts in the room. We're going to be consuming a lot of great (but not so healthy) food during our little Disney trip, so starting the day with some granola bars, fruit salad and hardboiled eggs will make the calorie consumption a little easier. Plus, it will be cheaper than hitting the QS at the hotel. I have told DF that one morning we WILL be hitting the Poly for some Tonga Toast! Lynn, you've created a monster! Must.Try.
I also plan to pre-order the Photopass CD this week. We're not getting formal engagement photos done, so I hope to use some Photopass pictures in our wedding stuff, like the newsletter, web site, etc. Plus, I do like to scrapbook our trips and I'm really tired of the same shot: me on the left, DF on the right holding the camera with his left arm. The background may change, but we never do!!
Another mildly, cost-saving development took place last week. In the past we've usually rented cars to drive down to Disney. A cute little Ford Focus has always done the trip. It holds all of our stuff and it's great on gas mileage. See, DF has a large gas-guzzling truck that gets about 8 mpg and I drive a lease car with only so many miles per year. It costs about 200 to rent a car for the week, plus about $150 in gas. It's cheaper than 2 airline tickets and we have the convenience of a car in Disney. Well, my dad (who also drives a lease car) was supposed to turn in his lease car last week and get a new one. But, they didn't have what he wanted in stock, so he had to order a new car. It won't be in for about 6 weeks, so he gets to keep his old lease car. My dad is retired so his 2-year-old lease car with the low mileage lease (that would allow him 20,000 miles total) has about 9,000 miles on it. He said we should save the money we'd spend on a rental car and take his since he doesn't have to worry about going over in miles! So excited!!! Gas will be a little pricier since he has an Explorer, but we won't be shelling out the $230 for an 8-day rental car! And my dad is spoiled, so his car has all the nice features. (That's the worst part about renting...my car is fully loaded, but I have to pay to rent a car that usually doesn't have any of the amenities my car has.

lol)
The other thing on my to-do list this week is get a tan.

Not a tanning booth...can't do it. I mean, I could...I just won't. My mom had melanoma when I was 3 and I don't need to tempt fate. Not that laying out in the sun is much better...but tanning booths are the worst. I'm Greek, so I don't reallly burn if I have a little base and I tan pretty easily. But, I haven't been outside at all this summer.

My legs are a ghostly white that could only be described as Greek FAIL!

We're going to be outside all day, it's going to be incredibly hot and I'm going to be sweaty. I don't want to worry about reapplying sunblock every hour because I've sweat or wiped it off. So, I need a little base! It's supposed be 95 and sunny tomorrow. I'm definitely going to try to head to the pool for a little time on my delightful floating bed.
Okay....that's it for now. I'll try to recap our itinerary briefly and lay out our travel plans. Perhaps, show some of the packing progress and what I'm going to take (it will definitely include some Vera, for you fans out there!)
