Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

OK, just want to say I'm going nuts waiting over here! I havent been able to convince DH into a trip anytime soon, but my chances are better w/free dining, and the kids have 2 days off of school at the end of Sept, so they'd only miss one day for travelling, added bonus is the Halloween party, lol!! Oh come on release!!!!!:surfweb::goodvibes:surfweb:

last year there was no email to disney visa holders, you just had to find out here, call tomorrow morning and book, usually the info gets out after the first few days. Last year there was only a two day notice as well. Then they will come out with codes to use when you book,, however most cm's don't make you give the promotion code, and they will be printed here under the discounts page...good luck!

Ok, so I think everyone is kind of going on the assumption that Disney Visa can book tomorrow and that GP on the 30th (I can't get the day off work DARN! I hope I can still get POP if I have to call at the end of the day - that scares me).

I am sure everyone will post here once something has been booked. I am going to basically troll this site tonight and tomorrow looking for news...LOL. I cannot wait to get the green light and confirmation of the dates.

I think we all are, haha! I'm bringing my computer to school with me today to see if any announcements are made.

I hope that all these rumors are true... otherwise we're going to have a lot of upset people on here.. :headache:

We got in on free dining last year--and LOVED it--but we are planning our trip this year for first of December. I remember that last year they extended or re-offered the free dining for some dates in November and early December--does anyone remember when those dates were and when the 'extended offer' was announced?
Thanks!!!

Last September Disney Destinations sent out some emails that offered free dining pin codes for select dates in October, November and December, 9/28-10/11, 11/9-11/22 and 12/12-12/20 to be exact . These emails were random, not for the general public, and the codes were non-transferrable. About two weeks after that Disney Visa sent out a free dining code for their card holders for the same select dates in October, November and December. Those pin codes were not part of the regular Fall Dining promotion and there was no general public fd code offered for any of those dates.

How do you know DV can book tomorrow? Where is that stated?

Free dining to return August 16 - October 3, 2009
Our sources say that Disney will announce late summer free dining packages for Disney Visa cardholders on March 26, and to the general public on March 30. Travel dates are August 16 through October 3, 2009.

I actually did get an email from Disney VISA last year, but not until, like, 2 days after the offer began. Go Chase!

I believe that offer was only for Disney VISA cardholders, and it came out in the late summer, August, I think.

Thank you!!! I just got the Disney Visa--so am really hoping that they do it the same way they did last year... because of other issues we won't know of our official dates in December until the first part of May--so trying to wait patiently now... thank you again for your info and for getting back to me so quickly!!

I'm hoping this is not to far OT, and I apologize for the length but here's my situation. I have already booked a full price package at ASMo the last week of September through a TA and received my DVC last week. I'm a complete WDW novice, this'll be our first family trip (me, DW, DD4, & DS2), but I do feel very informed thanks to the DIS - so first off thanks so much! We are holding our breath for FD like most everyone on this thread - and it now appears the day is just about here.

Last night one of our friends (is this a DF?) expressed an interested in joining us for part of the trip. We would love to have her join us, but from past experience I'd say she's about 25% likely to actually go. She would stay in our room (I know it'll be crowded but she's like family) and given my DS2 would be sleeping in a crib that should work fine. I know to get FD she'll need to be added onto our package ($10 more per night due to exceeding two adults in the ASMo room). My questions are as follows:

1. Should I add her to our party tomorrow or wait till she’s 100% in? Do I jeopardize our FD package by changing (adding or deleting an adult later on)?
2. If she's only going for 4 nights (we're going for 8) how do should we book her tickets, the room, ect?
3. Crunching the numbers this morning I realized its really not much more money having 8 day park tickets and paying the extra hotel fee even if she's only going to be there 4 nights. Is there any advantage for us on the days she's not there (dining probably not, extra Fast Passes maybe?). I’m not asking to do anything against the rules, just curious what’s the best way to book this situation.

I know I have a TA and should be asking her all these questions but thought I'd check with the experts I've come to trust first.:)

1) You usually can add someone later, as long as you are within the sale dates.

2) you could get 4 day tickets for everyone, and upgrade only your group to 8 day when you get there.

3) The tricky part is how to add her for free dining,
when all members of the party must be on the SAME package,
and using any of her perks when she is technically NOT there
could be considered fraud,
and Disney does not have to honor fraud.

Ask your TA,
ask Disney,
find out an official answer,
don't go by what the boards say on that one.

I'd hate for you to be penalized for a "fraud offense."

What if you have the DV but don't have a code? Can you call general res and just tell them you have the DV without a code?

Also, what if you wanted to check in before Aug 16, would they honor it?

Thanks DisneyMom5, the last thing I want to do is something fraudulent. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any legal tips for this type situation. Fraud is just oh so UN-magical.:thumbsup2
