Free Dining Supposedly Starting This Week

Probably old news but for those who may not know. They are saying on the codes board and budget board that free dining will be offered to the public starting April 12 for the dates Aug 26 - Sept 22. Someone on the budget boards said they booked it today and that it is available now for Disney Visa card holders.
Not the dates I'll be going but some on here may be able to use it.

We are probably going to Disney this year IF they offer free dining.
We went last year during free DDP, but stayed offsite.
We wanted to go to Dominica Republic this year, but my wife and I decided to go back to the World if they have the special....

Staying on DVC points you can't get the free dining. It's a bummer really, but DVC accommodations are great.

Great I'd better call today and book our last 2 ADR's or we won't be sitting down to eat at all. Sigh not a big fan of free dining since we can't use it!! We are using our DVC points for this trip but I'm stayin at WLV one of my fav's!! Then we have on last night at AKL to 'check it out' says dh in case we want to get points there.

Oh and when I called last night the CM that I spoke to to book AKL told me he knew nothing about free dining - told him he should read the boards more then b/c it was startin next week!! He said IF it does start the dates will be much shorter this year and that's the answer he was told to give.

I,ve heard that the dates for free dining will start Aug26. Unfortunately or fortunately we are going Aug 5 to the 12. Hoping that with the free dining offer the crowds will be lower .

Now I noticed booking my ADR's I used the 1 800 number and my call was answered promptly and when I use the 1 407 number I'm usually on hold for 20 min. Are they put in a different sequence? I just want the quickest route Thursday morning .

I didn't realize that DVC renters were uneligible for the free dining promotion... that sucks. And paying essentially the same price for a lesser room just so we could get free dining wouldn't be worth it to me. On the plus side, there's no longer any incentive for us to go during those hot months... blech.

Trivial- I look at it as an extra trip. This gives me a chance to stay in a new resort and eat great and save my points for another trip in the same year.

Surprisingly enough I called to book my brother's one night at AKL for the Friday night before we fly out and to change a few ADR's and I didn't have any problems getting the restaurants I wanted at the times I wanted. I was surprised because we check in on Aug 26th I thought everything would be booked up by now!!

Trip is seeming more 'real' now - even if I can't have free dining!!

Everyone on pretty well all the major podcasts have been saying Thursday April 12th and mousesavers.com just posted that info on their site.
We've been waiting (painfully I'll add - LOL) for confirmation so we can go ahead and book for the free DDP in Sept.

It's funny, friends and family have called us nuts for ordering planes tickets, and booking dinner reservations before any room and park admissions. But hey, free dining, why not?

- anybody have good experiences with Earl of Sandwich?

I think the fact that we're all a little crazy if the common thread around here . I won't even put my countdown ticker on yet until I'm booked. I have all my ADR's already but we are only going if it's free dining.

We enjoyed Earl of Sandwich but last time tried Wolfgang Puck Express and found that to be much better in terms of CS.

According to the Burlington CAA reps there is a special promotion at Disney but it won't be announced until April 18th 2007. The rep did not know what the promo was only that at a seminar two weeks ago this was announced.
I suspect that this is the free dining from Aug-Sept.
We're planning on being there from Sept.9-16th 2007 right in the middle of the promo.

A new promotion on Disney Dining is launching on Thursday, April 12, 2007. This new promotion features complimentary dining when purchasing a Magic Your Way package. A Magic Your Way package is when you purchase a Disney Resort for minimum 3 nights or longer (maximum 14 nights) and a Magic Your Way ticket. The promotion will be applicable from April 12 until June 24, 2007 for travel August 26 - September 22, 2007. Restrictions apply!
