Free dining question

I've searched through a lot of questions but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for..

If I book a vacation package at WDW and do not have dining on the package at all and free dining is announced later for those dates, can I call and add it on? Or does my reservations have to have a dining plan already on it?

Maybe.

You can only get free dining if (1) you have a full price room, (2) you purchase at least a 2 day ticket for everyone in your party and (3) the resort in question has availability for free dining, and for the type of room you have reserved.

So if all those things are true, then yes.

If not, like if you have a room discount or another package discount offer, then you would have to choose one or the other.
