Free Dining Question

Hi,

Does Disney offer the free dining program on a yearly basis, and when do they usually offer this? Is it automatically included when you book the trip during those times? Thanks!!

Free dining is the basic dining plan for free when you purchase a full priced non discounted mYW pkg with rack rate resort stay.The annual offer you are referring to started in 2005.It is announced in April for travel dates in Aug/Sept each year.There is NO guarantee Disney will offer it every year, but the odds are very very great that they will again this year.Once it is announced you need to call using the special booking code.Disney will not just do it for you or even offer it.if you book now and want to try and get free dining when it is available, you still need to call (when it comes out)and see if there is avail. at your resort choice for your dates.there are a limited number of rooms and resorts that are eligible for the promotion.There was also a free dining promo for select dates in Oct Nov and Dec this year, but they were only avail in 2 ways.You either had to get a special pincode from disney( which was name specific and nontransf.)not everyone got these.Or you had to be a Disney Visa cardholder.

The same promotion has been offered yearly since 2005 and is always good for late August/September. There's already been a bounceback offer for August/September 2009, so the odds are good that another general public offer is coming. Check in late March/early April,as that is most likely when bookings will be permitted.

With the economic downturn it's also possible that WDW will handle discounts a little differently in 2009.

The free dining promotion is not automatically included with resort reservations. When booking a reservation within the permitted time for booking, you must request it.

It was already offered to UK & Ireland residents but they changed it for 2009. I wonder if these changes will be implemented in the US?? I'm DVC so I don't take advantage of this offer, however I'm watching very closely incase it is offered during our stay...if so gotta call 180 + 10 days out!!!

Walt Disney World has announced the 2009 UK free dining promotion. In order to participate in this promotion, you must be a UK resident. There are a few changes for 2009:
You must book at least a 5 night stay at a Walt Disney World resort
Value resorts are not included in the discount
Stay at a WDW Moderate resort, and receive the Quick Service Dining Plan for free
Stay at a WDW Deluxe or Villa resort and receive the Disney Dining Plan for free
Receive a 14 day park pass for the price of a 7 day park pass.
The resort rooms and park passes are not discounted, and no other discounts may apply. Availability is extremely limited. You must book by November 4, 2008.

important to note...the UK always has longer dates for free dining.Our dates may fall in there somewhere,but are not usually the same.

You too can get free dining if you book a room/tickets package on a date it's offered.

Just a note about the free dining...if I understand it correctly, you will still have to pay gratuity. Not too bad a price to pay for dinner, though!
