Free Dining Question

Hello:

I have a Magic Your Way package plus free dining package booked for September (Wilderness Lodge Sept. 11-16, 3 adults = $2722.50). I am curious to see what my savings are. When I use the web site to book everything separately, hotel, tickets, and dining, I come up with $2600 + tax. Where is the savings? What am I missing? Please help, I am very confused.

I just looked and for a woods view and 6 day hopper, water, parks and more tickets w/ dining and the cost would be a little over $3100.00.

The savings are in the money you'd be spending to "buy" a dining plan or paying OOP for.

Your savings should be equal to... the number of people on the dining plan, times (X) the number of nights you are staying.

3 Adult @ $38 = $114 X 5 nights = $570 (approximately)

Your figure for free dining looks about right, especially since you'll be charged a nightly fee for having a third adult in the room (15-25 more a night depending on the hotel).

When I look at Woods view, parkhoppers, dining it comes to a little under $3000, similar to what the earlier poster had.

You can figure your 'overall' savings to be around $250, which stands to reason since you will not pay the lowest possible rate for the room when you are receiving free dining (per promotion rules) and you will have to pay the extra-adult charge. You're about $250 ahead, and you're still on your way to WDW!

If I am understanding you correctly, you will be saving your money with all the food you get! We usually end up eating a dinner close to $200 and we don't pay for it! Now, with them taking away the appetizer portion and the gratuities this year it might not have as much benefit, but its a highlight for us! We love trying out new restaurants we normally wouldn't try and it doesn't stress us out while we are there wondering how much money we are spending on the food. The first year we did it we tried to save our receipts from each meal to see how much we saved, but we couldn't keep up.

We love it, in fact this year we are going back in Sept b/c we did "bounce back" last Sept!

I just used the website to "book" your trip complete with no dining and came out with $2722.50 which is excactly what you paid. So you got the Dining for free.

When doing comparison shopping you must keep a couple of things in mind:
1. Packages priced on the website immediately include all taxes which are fairly significant where if you book tickets separately the taxes are not included until you proceed to checkout.
2. Packages do not include Insurance until you proceed to checkout.

It is worth noting that this price of $2722.50 includes $200.85 for travel insurance. Disney tends to add this automatically and if you don't want it you need to decline.

Selecting this exact same offer and paying for Dining the total comes to $3,292.35 so your savings are $569.85.

When doing the Free Dining, we book the Value resorts to save the most. At times, the discounts offered on the Deluxe Resorts or even the Moderates outweigh the free food. Just my thoughts.
