Free dining question

I'm still new to this board, but I'm anxious to find out what all the talk is about with regards to the "free dining." I'm going to Disney Aug 5 - 10, 2007 and I'm adding the dining plan to my package. How are other people getting it for free? Do you have to ask or is there a special code. Please explain. Thanks for your help.

Disney World offered the dining plan for free if you purchased a MYW package for certain dates in 2005 & 2006 (September - early October) Non peak season.

We actually changed our dates to get this offer in 2005. Since it was offered 2 years in a row, people are assuming it will be offered again this year. Nothing concrete has been offered for 2007.

Some have heard it will be offered, some have heard the opposite.

Time will tell . . . . . .

We are going August 5-12 only because my mom was there in November and was offered free dining if she booked a trip in August or September while she was there (the first day she was offered was August 5th). So people that took advantage of this have free dining.

Thanks for the info on the free dining. I wish Disney would've offered it to me last year. I was there Aug 06 & paid for the dining plan then too.

They did have the free dining last August. I think it started 8/13 and went through 9/30. We had the free dining last year when we went from 9/21 through 10/1. We are also going back this September and hoping they have the free dining again. If not, we do have the 40% off room rate, so we will be happy with that.

Last year in April it came out as a special that you could start booking for check-ins in August 13,2006-September 30,2006 (hurricane season), so keep watching these boards and mousesavers.com to see if it is offered again this year for your dates- if and when a free dining promotion opens there will be all kinds of excitement here on the DIS with people posting what their deal is! You will NOT automatically get the deal if you are already booked, you have to call your TA or Disney (however you booked originally) to change your ressie, if available.

You have to keep in mind though, that the Free Dining Package in the past had some stipulations - you had to pay "rack" rate for your room (non discounted), everyone had to be on the same package, everyone had to purchase at least a minimum ticket, etc. so even if it is offered you have to run the figures to make sure you will be saving any $$$ first....
