Free Dining Plan

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I was wondering about the dates that the Free Dining Plan is offered. I have seen it worded 2 ways:
1. offered for CHECK IN dates
2. Offered if you STAY 3 days during the offered period.
An example:
Free dining offered 9/27 - 10/25 (with blackout dates 10/1 - 10/20}

So... if we check in 10/17 (black out date) but stay until 10/25 (10/21 - 25 are valid days for the free dining plan) do we get the free dining or because we checked in during a blackout date we do not qualify?

I believe your check-in day has to fall in the window of the Free Dining promotion, and you'll get it for your entire stay, even if some of the dates of your stay aren't in the window. So in the case you posted, no, you would not get it.

Check-in day is all that matters. If your check-in day doesn't qualify, then your whole stay is disqualified.

But you could check in on 10/17, and then check in again on 10/21. You would have to make 2 separate reservations. You would be eligible to pick up your tickets required for the free dining part of the package early (I think it's 3 days early). Booking 2 separate reservations is known as a split stay. If you do book it this way, you would be eligible for the free dining from the 21st - 25th.

Not sure what days you are planning on going to the parks, but what you could do is book a room only ressie for the first part that is blocked out, then book the package with tickets starting on the 21st. I believe (from the disboards) that you can pick up your tickets from the package earlier than your check in date, so you could get them to use during your room only stay.

I've never done it before, but I'm sure someone with a lot more knowledge about this who has done it will come along to explain better. lol
