Free Dining Plan

I apologize for my foolish question, but would someone please clarify something for me? Would we need to be staying in a Disney resort (as opposed to DVC) in order to purchase this package? Also, does anyone know if you will be limited to booking 1 rm for 2007 special? We're planning a family gathering for Sept 07 - if I could book everyone's rooms, it would be the perfect excuse to sneak in a mini-trip this yr (OK - so probably not likely, but worth a try!!) :yay: :yay:

Hi kdzgon,
Yes....you'd need to stay in a disney resort, but I believe you could also stay in a DVC resort as long as it was not on points (i.e. cash rates through CRO). I'm also pretty sure you could book multiple rooms as well. Everyone in the room would have to be there the same amount nights and purchase the same amount of MYW pass days (all that is required is a base ticket but you have the option to add on water parks or hopping). I believe the MYW passes must be used within 14 days of 1st use. This was based on this year's policy. We were there for part of the free dining promotion, but were using DVC points for our stay so we could not partake.
Hope this helps. Have fun planning :thumbsup2

Free dining was on the last couple of days of our Aug trip, we were not offered it. We found that were not able to get some of the ADR we wanted during that time and we more or less rushed out of the restaurants to fit more people in. We found it quite a difference from the first part of the trip, and frankly it did annoy me.

:confused3 How does this work ? I stay at SSR ... buy tickets from Disney and get the dining plan free, do I have to buy tickets for the same number of days we are staying ? Or just a day or two just like the last time we did the free dining? last Oct we stayed at POP and bought only 1 day and the fun water pack deal ( 3 days at the water park) and manage to get the free dining.

DVC resorts booked by points work differently from WDW resorts booked through CRO. If you book a DVC resort with points then there is no required pass purchase because many DVC members have APs. You still need to purchase the dining plan for everyone in your room for the whole vacation. The new rumored free dining program looks like you might have to purchase a Length of Stay pass with your reservation. We won't really know until people come back and update us.

Thanks for clarifying Robin. I think I assumed kdzgon was inquiring about the "free" dining. I may have misunderstood them, but that was what my reply was in response to.

I'm not even sure if DVC resorts booked through CRO were eligible for the FDP. I seem to remember that they were not, but we booked at Pop because my extended family was on a pretty strict budget.

Ok...thanks again Robin. I stand corrected. I couldn't remember 100% either.

4) I have seen people eat a lot more than usual because the food is there.

Yep - That was us in August - the Gluttons! Never again!!! We do not have enough self-discipline!
