I see from the other thread that they will offer Free Dining again in 2007.

We are waiting now for ROFR...sorry OT.

How does the DVC work with the Free Dining Plan? We have AP already. Last year we had to stay at a Disney resort and pay full rack rate, then we had to buy one ticket into the park. We stayed for 6 nites and they applied the price of our tickets to our AP. Next time we will be staying at a value rather than a mod because it is so much money! However, we ate so much the three pigs were envious!

Thanks for the help. April

Slakk is right. But I have to say.....

I did the "free" dining plan last year. Stayed at a value, bought the 1 day to trade in for a future AP. It wasn't worth it. Next time they have free dining I will still stay at DVC and pay for the meal plan. It will cost more, but in the long run I won't be nearly as grumpy (values do that to me).

IMO...The dining plan is a great deal, even if you have to pay for it.

When I said it wasn't worth it, I wasn't talking about the meal plan!
The jury is still out on that. Staying at a value is not worth it! ;)

You can always pay cash for your DVC resort, buy the tickets from Disney and get the dining plan for free. Or use your points, buy your own tickets and pay for the dining plan (or cook for yourself and buy as you need it).

I agree too! I didn't have to use points and still went on my regularly scheduled DVC trips....the free dining trip was just an extra one we threw in because of the promotion. Also used our one day tickets towards our AP renewal.

Hi April,
Can u tell me where that thread is ? I checked the disney restaurant boards and didn't see anything. Or do you know the dates---are they the same as they were this year ? I'd like to avoid that time period at all costs. The crowds they brought in during August were a mess.
Thanks :thumbsup2

The only free dining that is for sure for 2007 that I have seen is the one being offered to people who live in the UK. I dont think they have anounced free dining for people in the US but there is a lot of speculation that because it is being offered in the UK that it will also be offered to us.

There is something on Allears (thread on Theme parks board, or at least that is where I saw it yesterday). They are running a test promo for end of Nov/Dec time frame where if you book before your stay is up you get a discount on your pacakge. It isn't actually "free" dining but the discount is = to what the dining package would cost.

I will post a link if I can find it

Wow. I did the same thing and we had a great trip! Of course, DVC resorts are much nicer ...

Thanks friends for finding all the info and for helping me understand it.

We did get ROFR, although not surprised I was upset. I didn't know how much until I went back and saw I posted FOFR! Ok, upset.

So we will have to buy another ticket and stay at a mod or something else. I can't even think about a value....no offense but those huge things all around, the concrete the crowds, the kids, the noise. I have a kid but I don't let him scream or run around in public. At our ranch fine, but there are manners for being in public.

We had FDP this year and loved it. We stayed at POFQ, went to MNSSHP and it was my birthday! DH is a jolly man and he can put away the food. I am eating once again and love the taste of food. God has blessed me that I don't gain weight. We can just do the same again for the FDP for 2007 and save our points.

1) Sometimes, yes.
2) Sometimes, no.
3) I have seen MANY people lose money on it by not getting expensive meals.
4) I have seen people eat a lot more than usual because the food is there.

I got the free dining this fall at POR, and it was great! It was so great that I gained 15 pounds in one week on the plan. All those desserts were just real diet-busters. :guilty:

:confused3 How does this work ? I stay at SSR ... buy tickets from Disney and get the dining plan free, do I have to buy tickets for the same number of days we are staying ? Or just a day or two just like the last time we did the free dining? last Oct we stayed at POP and bought only 1 day and the fun water pack deal ( 3 days at the water park) and manage to get the free dining. We love the free dining, all we need to worry when we took off from PHL was money for sovies and extra tips! We did not eat the whole buffett also and manage to loose 1 pound by the time we got back in Pa. :yay:

your answer will be highly appreciated,
Thank You
