Free Dining pin, counter service only for August-October

If this ends up being the same deal offered to the public, seems like staying at a Mod would be the best savings.

I just did the math, and for me, value is still the better deal, even with quick service and upgrading to next tier dining. For ten nights, 6 day base tix for 2A, 1J, 1C, it's $2652.41 for Caribben Beach. For POP, same thing costs $2222.73 even if I upgrade to regular dining package (above QS). Since I was happy w/ POP last year, I think I'll stick with that. Am I missing something?

Do they always allow you to upgrade from free QS to the regular plan? What's the cost?

I just booked the pin free dining this morning and was allowed to upgrade to the reg dining plan from quick service (paid cost difference).

7 nights @ Pop
hoppers
2 adults
2 kids
free QS dining upgraded to reg dining was $2030.68

a mod was still about $400 or so more.

Id prefer free dining with reg dining plan (of course!), or even play with a 40% code, but, Ill be happy I even got the pin for this!

I wonder if Disney will just go back to offering the regular dining plan with the values.

I hope they offer the DP for values at some point. Upgrading would be $1120 more for us. Still less than a mod, but still a huge amount.

I don't know if this is a deal breaker for us. My husband sure thinks it is.

Quick service would be fine, but not in August. We bring a cousin with us and waiting in a QS line with six kids is no picnic. Plus so many QS are outside. QS now have the policy of having to wait in line before you are seated. In the past we have left one adult and half the children at a table and the other goes and orders for all. We often have trouble finding seating at QS.

Having a TS once a day gave us a time to relax and have some guaranteed AC. QS isn't fun for a mom, part of my vacation experience is having those TS dinners.

Looks like Disney might have priced us out of our annual vacation. With airfare, tickets, hotel, upgrade of DP, and TIP we are looking at a budget of $8000+. :guilty: :sad2:

I also got this pin today which is amazing because I usally don't get pins. I am going to try to get my parents to go back because we went and got free dining last year during the first week and my parents loved it.

For us, the cost to upgrade from CS to TS would be $66 for our trip if it's truly $10 pp per night for adults and $2 per child per night. We're only going for 3 nights, so it actually ends up a better deal for us to stay with POP!

Oh geez. That means I am going to have to run the math figures again

I am staying at a value during what I *hope* will be free dining. I am staying for 2 weeks, but I want the regular dining plan.

If I have to call and make resort changes again Disney might divorce me :headache:

You guys are lucky. I got a pin...for 15% off a value. Last pin I got was 30% off a value, so that one was way better. Last summer I got a pin for the full paln for free dining for the later part of the year, but we didn't go. I am hoping if it is offered, I can coax DH to go then.
