We just got the free Dining pin and it was from August 15-October 2.

If you stay at the Values it is only counter service.

I would bet this is what will be offered this year, it would be a waste of their time to send this pin out and then people would just change it if regular free dining came out.

I sure hope not. I think that would be a reason for us to cancel our August trip. We did FD last year, and it was offered as a bounceback. That gives me hope that they will offer it in time.

I'm thinking the OP will be right.

Quick serve for Values
Regular Plan for Moderate and above

Not sure if it will start 8/15 for the general public or later. But that date does sound about right for GP.

This is what everyone was saying this time LAST YEAR...and that's NOT what it turned out to be...so, we'll just have to wait and see...

Here's hoping the values get offered the "regular' dining for free again this year....

Free dining was offered to the general public for dates during mid August through some time in Novemeber. I think it was eventually extended a bit further as well. The code came out in Spring and we had until June something to book it for those dates....

Was it the full service -1ts, 1cs, 1 snack or the quick serve -2cs, 2 snack and a mug?

I hope not. From what I recall, I've seen threads from people that have booked bounceback offers at values get the regular dining plan free. I would think it would be the same.

Last year the deal from mid August through the beginning of October was regular DDP (1TS, 1CS, 1snack) at all levels of resorts.

Last year the deal from the beginning of October through December 17 was QSDP (2CS, 2snack + mug) at value resorts and regular DDP at all other levels of resorts.

If the PIN that's coming out for the typical free dining dates is for QSDP at value resorts then I think that's a pretty good indication of what they'll offer for their general public free dining deal. Last year they had to upgrade a lot of people to DVC resorts from value resorts because of how many people booked values during free dining. This didn't happen at all during the Oct-Dec free dining because people who usually booked at values found that it was worth while to upgrade to moderates for only a small increase in cost if they wanted to upgrade to the regular DDP anyway.

This indeed was the case but last year free quickservice dining was not offered for late Aug until Oct.

Early last year was the buy 4 get 3 free until Aug 15 then free regular dining started Aug 16. In the past, free dining hit the public in April.

Free quickservice dining was offered last year for dates in Nov and Dec.

This could very well mean no regular dining for value resorts, maybe.

When do you think the "Free Dining" will be announced for the general public? I called today to see if I had a PIN and didn't and then I asked when specials for Oct would be released and the CM said early summer. I don't think I can wait that long to book because this is our first trip and I know I want to get ADR's which I need to make late April. I am struggling with patience. :rotfl:

This just may be what is offered for the general public this fall. We won't be going back anytime soon, I know that, for we have been quite a bit in the past few years, :rotfl:but I don't want to back to a value resort anyways. But if this is the case, the best deal would be five at POR in one room.

What is really odd about our email pin code is the account it came to.

As far as I know, we did not give it to Disney.

Same here! I got the same email today, but at my work address, which I don't remember ever giving to Disney. hmmmmm.....

I am going to have to sit down and do some math to figure out if it's a better deal than the 40% off the cabins I booked as a bounceback....

Hasn't the Free Dining for 2010 already been offered to UK residents? Does anyone know what kind of deal they got because it seems to me that the offer would be the same for U.S. residents. Just a thought....:confused3

The UK folks get a lot more "grease" for their wheels than us stateside folks.

Disney puts a really big carrot on their stick to get them to cross the big pond.

Heh, metaphors ... :lmao:

:)Apparently we aren't going to get much "grease" then because I just checked the UK website and the Free Dining Plan they are being offered is Quick Service Dining Plan for Moderates and the Regular Dining plan for Deluxe resorts. :sad2: I knew I should have booked that bounce back offer last September.:rolleyes: DOH!:) I am still keeping my fingers crossed for a big US free dining "carrot". :)

I agree with the OP too. While the summer FD offered the basic DDP, the fall FD offered the CS and most of us decided then that this was going to be the future for free DP for the values. While the BB offered the basic (I booked that one), that was offered BEFORE the next wave of FD for Nov/Dec 09. I think the release for the GP will be exactly like the pin offered that just started, except when its offered to the GP the date range will be a smaller window. I would like to see if the ticket requirements stay at being able to book a 1 day tickets (like the in the past) or now be required a length of stay ticket, which knocks alot of us AP holders out of this game.

I leave for WDW in a couple of hours, but will be watching this unfold since I'll have my netbook with me (and free internet for DVC holders is a good perk).

I do think that the Free Dining deals are going to start to trickle down somewhat each year now. But that is not shocking at all. The pot will be getting a little less sweet.
