Hi!

I know it is not a given but they usually offer free dining during January (so I'm told). If you select free dining vs a % discount on your room do you also need to include tickets? Do you have to pay it off in full with your disney visa too?
Would it be possible to book my moderate with free dining, pay full price for my room and pay for everything with GCs? Thanks!

You check mousesavers.com for historical discounts.

Room discount can be room only. With free dining, you have to purchase a package and at least a two day ticket (it is one day for regular dining).

I just got the Disney Visa card, so I am not sure if you booked it with the Visa card holders only, before it went public, then you might. I would check their website to see if you do. I haven't totally sifted through all the info, but I did book my discount during the Disney Visa promotion and did pay it off with my Disney Visa.

If you book a regular public promotion, you can pay off with GC's.

Free dining was not offered during January 2013. Discounts are different this year. Free dining was usually offered the last week of August, thus year it starts on Labor Day. I think the historical discounts are not going to be totally accurate for the near future. However you probably will see some type of discount inJanuary.

When I used the Disney Visa discounts in the past, I had to put the deposit on my Disney Visa (probably to prove I had one). I don't know if you can pay off the package (due 45-days before arrival) with gift cards.

As the PP said, historically the free dining packages have required a purchase of tickets (2-day minimum). So if you go with free dining, you'll probably have to purchase tickets as part of the package.

If you go with a room only reservation, then you do not have to purchase tickets.

Are you sure? We almost went this past year and I thought they did offer it... I could be wrong, easily confused!

This is correct. There was no free dining in 2013 until the late summer one offered now.

You're going to be much better off with a room discount than free dining..

Ok, I'm a Visa card holder and there was some kind of package deal (it's listed on mouse savers). I just don't know what it was.... Oh well!

Generally what that means is you can get the room discount and then add dining and tickets and convert the reservation to a package. You get to keep the discount on the room, but there will be no discounts on tickets or the dining plan.

Especially when lugging two teens along.

I agree. My stepnephew has been living with my parents for several months while my stepbrother is living on his buddy's couch and building his dream home. He is 15 and is an aspring baseball pitcher.

He drinks a half gallon of milk every other day. When we meet at a local watering hole for dinner every Tuesday night for half priced sandwiches, he gets two full platters - burger and fries and reuben and fries.

The discount was the stay, play and dine. It was paying children's prices for adults on tickets and the dining plan. Depending on the make up of your property and where you are staying that could be cheaper, or the room discount could be cheaper.

I'm assuming these prices were for the plus dining only? Or deluxe dining too?

Has anyone here ever purchased a resort stay from Ebay?
They have one now, and I'm thinking about it...

MY BAD...didn't mean to post this here!!!! No response needed!!

Any way of knowing if they will do this again?!

There is no way of predicting; Disney ultimately does whatever is good for the stockholders.
