so if i get this package, what percent or base amount do i have to put down when i book? and when does it have to be paid in full? (as i know that i can't pay balance upon arrival.)

I just booked this today on-line. I had to put down a 200.00 deposit and payment in full is due by aug 8.

packages are $200 deposit per room, payable within 2 weeks of booking the package (otherwise it's subject to forfeit) and the balance due prior to 45 days before check-in.

if packages are booked within 45 days of check-in, the entire balance is immediately due.

When I made my reservations today, you had to put a $200 deposit down with the remainder due 45 days before you go.

Reservations today do not have to be deposited until 14 days from today, unless they did the Disney Visa offer. Normal reservations are on a 2 week courtesy hold.

45 days prior is the final.

I had to put $200 down today as well. I even asked if I could mail in the deposit within 2 weeks and the CM said I had to pay by credit card today.

I was a little bummed because I was planning on mailing a check next week after DH's pay day ;) but I just used my debit card and at least I know it's all taken care of and I can relax for awhile! :thumbsup2

That is really odd. Perhaps the agent just wanted to make sure that they got the revenue/commission (or booked you under the Dis Visa offer?)

I re-booked my trip.Originally scheduled Sept.23-30.....But I had to cancel that one and make a new reservation for Sept.22-30 to get the 8 days free dining. I am getting a refund on the $$ I already paid for reservation 1. I had to but another new deposit down on reservation 2..the amount was $200.00 with remainder due by Aug 8.

YIPES!

it seems that there are some CM requiring that $200 deposite when you book and some are going by the "get it to us in 2 weeks or we will cancel your ressie" rule.

very stressfull

i would like to make a ressie now and then have DH check at work to see if he can get those dates off work. (he can't really go in with a vacation request and not give them solid dates. he has to know up front what dates he is asking for.) if he gets denied, i will need to try again (and perhaps again and again) until i get dates that he gets an approval for.

understandably, i don't want to have to go putting $200 deposites over and over again. i would love it if i could make the ressie, call back in 24-48 hours and cancel then try again for different dates.

but it seems that it will be hit or miss. perhaps i should (before the CM goes thru with booking the ressie, ask them if i have to deposite right then with a credit card or if i can call back/mail in within 2 weeks.

also - anybody know if i can make that deposite with a disney gift card? and if so, will they credit back to it if i have to cancel the ressie?

I asked this morning when I booked if I could send them a check for the deposit - NOPE, she said she had to have the $200.00 today.

I wasn't prepared for that but managed to pay it anyway.

Would it not be easier to modify your existing reservation? This is what we did for those dates. Asked them just to add the 22nd on and it was no problem? Just a thought.

Hi Lori!

Go ahead and make a reservation and pay your deposit. Then, if you need to make a change to your dates, call back. You can change the dates on the reservation that has the deposit on it already.

You can make your deposit with a Disney Gift card, and if you need to cancel, your refund will go to whatever the last payment method you used. If it was a card, the refund would be issued to the gift card. :)
