Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

I think it would be fun to get tapped to be a Mom's Panel member for Disney, and you seem like you would be a perfect fit, smitch. ;)

But why don't they have a single, divorced, passionate, obsessed and crazy about Disney World panel? I'd be a perfect fit for that.

I have a lot more time to Dis during the summer. I hate swimming, so I let the kids swim while I read the boards poolside. Once school starts and University of Dayton athletics get going, I will be busy, busy, busy. Between football, volleyball, basketball and the kids having tae kwon do two nights a week, my nights will be full. I volunteer at school at least two days a week for several hours, so I have too much on my plate to apply for the Mom's Panel. Their answers always seem very generic to me. I like it here where I can get to know people a little bit. :goodvibes

I know they have had some guys on the panel. You'd be a great addition. I've never understood why it had to be called the "mom's" panel. Being a dad or not even a parent doesn't mean you can't know a lot of valuable information. :goodvibes

Off to bed early this evening. DD has a pool party to go to tomorrow, and of course it is only going to be 73 degrees for the high. This particular pool must hate us. The kids took swim lessons there years ago and it was 50 degrees all week in the middle of summer! I was literally wearing jeans and a sweatshirt while they were freezing in the pool. At least it will be warmer this time. Lol

Goodnight! :goodvibes

Hey Joe, would you have to be divorced to qualify or would widowed & still single be okay? Maybe you should start one. I'd be happy to volunteer for duty when/if needed.

Very true! I wish they had an I grew up near Disney but moved to England and now spend every second and every bit of money I can get my hands on trying to go back again Disney World Panel:dance3:

Tick-Tock Tick-Tock......why is this week moving so Sloooowww, come on Monday. This is worse then waiting for your kids to wake up on Christmas morning, LOL.

How many people even know to call at 7:00 am on the first day of FD release to the public?

I've done internet searches and can only find two websites even discussing this right now - here and ************** which I found because of the link in the first post. I looked at some old discussion boards and it does indeed look like in past years some people who called first thing the morning it was released to the public weren't able to get their resort first choice. Is it because that resort for that particular date range was never available for FD to begin with or are enough people aware ahead of time to snatch up available rooms? I think I even saw a post from someone who called on the first day it was available to disney visa holders who said they had to switch resorts in order to get FD (I could have just made that up too since I can't seem to find the post again.) Just bored and speculating (and obsessing.)

Ha! My kids wake me up Christmas morning! But yes, this week has been moving sooooo sloooow! I just want to know already so I can make my plans either way!

It all depends on how many rooms Disney allocates for FD at each resort and the dates you want to book. If you are flexible with which resorts you are willing to stay at you should be able to get FD. Have 2nd and 3rd choices ready when you call.

The more popular resorts have limited rooms for FD and book up fast; POFQ and Nemo Suites at AoA and those are the ones you probably have seen people post that they had to change resorts to get FD. Even if you have a resort reservation for the FD dates ahead of time if there are no FD rooms available for those dates you can't apply the FD discount to that ressie.

Same here....I'm an uber planner and getting this FD locked in next Monday will be the icing on the cupcake.

So my current package that I have is booked through AAA, which I have been making payments on for the last several months (all on my Disney Visa). So if booking starts at 7am for the free dining for DV cardholders, how do I do this? My AAA office does not open until 9am. Would Disney be able to make that change, as they do see my reservations or do I have to wait until 9am, call my AAA agent, then she calls Disney to rebook?

Definitely add the days. If this might be your only trip you have a lot to see and do! And a day off to relax is fantastic. Have fun!!!

AAA would have to make any changes to your reservation.

Your AAA agent would have to make the call (technically, they "own the reservation"), but she wouldn't have to rebook it - just have the FD discount applied. You might want to talk to your agent to make sure she is aware of the FD offer and will call first thing to have the discount applied to your reservation. Would be a good idea to let her know some alternate resort/room type choices you'd be okay with "just in case" the one you booked doesn't have any FD offer availability. Good luck!

One more quick question, Planning on booking a split stay under the DV offer. I understand I have to charge $200 on my visa for the FD part, but if there is a room only discount for my first 3 nights how much do I have to charge on my DV for that stay? Hoping to stay at CBR preferred room but I really don't want to have to charge $400 on my visa since I already have gift cards to pay the trip. Thanks.

With a split stay, it is 2 "separate" reservations so each would require a $200 deposit. I believe FD has less rooms allotted than RO, you could just call in when DV FD offer starts and have that discount applied then call back when GP offer starts to have RO discount applied.
Btw, if you've already paid the $200 deposit on your DV card, you don't have to pay another one when you call to have FD discount applied during the DV holder 'headstart'.

Still lurking. Thanks for all the wonderful answers to the many questions about free dining. I am in the "first week of Dec sad crew". I am considering a date change as the work schedule has changed for one of those traveling with us. Waiting along with everyone else for the coming week. :goodvibes
