Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

If I purchase base two day park tickets with the free dining package would I be able to upgrade them to the 4 day military park hopper with water parks and more option when we check in at the resort? When I was speaking to a cm they told me that as long as the ticket with the package is less I can upgrade to a higher priced ticket including the military ones as long as the cost is higher. I was surprised when I heard it because none of the other cms I spoke with had mentioned it and I thought that would be considered a discount which you aren't able to combine. I'm hoping to price some stuff out before Monday and just want to be sure of our options. Thank you! :)

Interesting question. it seems to me that would not be considered an upgrade to an existing ticket since the Military tickets are in themselves highly discounted :confused3

That's what has me confused but he said because the two day ticket is around $195 and the military with all of the options is about $198 we could do it. It makes me really nervous because I would hate to get there and find out we end up having to pay a lot more to upgrade to the regular 4 or 5 day ticket. Heck I don't even know if we will be able to get free dining but I want to be prepared just incase. I wouldn't want to switch our current reservation and lose it unless I'm sure the free dining would be a better option.

Hey guys, I've clarified the room only blackout dates in the first post of the room only thread. Also, since resorts tend to vary so greatly, I've just narrowed the list of discounts down to resort type as well. On the morning of the offer, posters here can clarify in more detail the exact percentage of certain rooms in certain resorts, since some rooms at the same resort can even carry different discounts.

Oh and the discounts are a bit higher as well, with Values at 25%, Moderates at 30% and Deluxes at 35%, again these vary greatly and some places like French Quarter and AOA will be much lower...but until that morning, it's just too confusing to try and list each specific.

Also, here's an article to help a bit more:

Black and Dave,
You two are the bomb:woohoo: Thanks for all that you do.

With Free Dining and a potential RO discounts looming, how do I figure out which will save me the most money in advance?

We're booked thru AAA for a 5 night stay at the Contemporary 9/30 to 10/5, with 5 day Park Hoppers and the Dining Plan as part of the package (2 adults, 1 infant). By booking thru AAA we saved nearly $300 off the Disney site posted rates.

Our AAA travel agent just retired, and I'd like to be able to tell her replacement what option we'd like to go with on 8/1. How can I determine which option will save us the most money ?

Thanks!

Chances are since you are staying at CR, the room discount should be better. When you get a free dining discount, you are only getting the price of 2 adults free. To get the actual numbers you have to price it out on Disney's website yourself.

I just went to the Disney website and plugged in your info. I don't know which room category you are staying in though, so I just did garden wing. With free dining, it looks like it would be $3192.00.
With the room only discount (and again I'm assuming Garden Wing and Regular dining plan), it would be $2921.80.

So it looks like room only would save you the most money up front (about $270), but then you still have to add food into the budget. So then I would say Free Dining will actually save you money in the end!

Thank you & Dave so much for all the information you provide, it is greatly appreciated! You both are the best :cool1:

Can anyone answer my question about where the info from these dinning dates came from?

Is anyone reading this?

It is stated on the first page of this thread, but here is the actual first acknowledgement of it:

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

So if someone is staying at a deluxe resort in a 1 bedroom with 3 adults and 1 child, the 35% resort discount would be better than the free dining plan? I also want to upgrade to the Deluxe dining plan. Confusing:confused3

OH my GOSHHHHH is Monday ever gonna get here?!?! Ive emailed my TA with my first choice (POFQ standard...long shot I know) with 2 back up plans!! I will be so glad when its officially booked.... then I can relax!

Any help on how to calculate RO discount on an existing reservation? Right not its 10/19-10/23 at POR, 2 adults and 3 kids (12,7,6). We are currently in Standard Room which shows $202/night. Do I just take 30% off 202x4?

Very valid point! You have to decide if that RO savings would cover what you will be eating for your stay. I went through and added up what we would eat each day at each counter service and table service. You can find menu with prices at ****************

Also, a little birdie told me that the CR RO discount may be divided between a 20% and 30% depending on the room category. So I would figure it at both discounts. No word on which category is what, but my guess is the more expensive rooms are at the higher discount. Good luck!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Yep:thumbsup2 If that is the rack rate for those dates. Does that $202 include tax??? If not just add 12.5%:)
