Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

Amy, I wanted to tell you that there is a link on another thread in the disney dining plan forum that is a OOP vs DDP calculator. I love it. It leads you to a Youtube of a couple who made some sort of interactive spreadsheet where you can plug in your numbers and it analzyes it all for you. If you type in OOP vs DDP in the disney dining plan forum it should pop up in one of those threads.:thumbsup2

For us, we are definitely shooting for RO dsct. We are not huge sit down eaters, do a lot of sharing, not a lot of character meals and not dessert peeps. Staying at the BC so I think the RO is a better dsct for out situation.

What I am going to do (which of course I learned from some wise peeps on the DIS:worship:) is put my food/tip budget on a gift card and pretend I have the DDP...That way it is already paid for. Just tricking myself...:cool1:

Just edited because the thread is called "Dining Plan Calculator...Terrific tool"

THANK YOU!!

I'll check it out! :-)

If you have booked through a travel agent do they have to call to get FD or can I call? And does anyone know if you can get away from the travel agency and do everything on your own without any reservations being affected?

PP was correct that the TA will have to add it on. Disney won't discuss your reservation with you.

I've seen mention of being able to 'fire' your TA, but the TA essentially has to sign off on it.

The wait is killing me. I see the plane tickets drop and want to get them, but need to wait til Monday to confirm Free Dining for November 23. If it is offered for this date, then I will be extending our trip and would like to not have to pay too big a difference in plane tickets.

I really want to change our flight reservations, but don't want to do anything until I know for sure that FD is offered on Nov. 23.

I don't blame you. I'm not flying, but I'm suspicious of the 11/23 date (which is the day I arrive). Last year (I didn't go last year during this time, though), FD ended the Thursday before Thanksgiving, not the Saturday before -- I guess it just seems too good to be true that they'd extend it out that close to Thanksgiving. Also, I'm pretty sure last year that the FD date ended on 12/20, but the date listed is 12/22 this year -- that's sooooooooo close to Christmas. They're already so busy, why would they offer it until the 22nd? :confused3

I guess we'll know soon enough on Monday!

If you booked through a TA, they have to call to make any modifications to your reservation (like applying FD discount)

Just hold on.....,(like the Wilson Phillips song). Ahhh.... I crack myself up. If we can only make it till Monday without being completely crazy. :-)

EXACTLY! We went last year on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. We didn't get FD because my husband did not want to leave until Sunday. This year, we are scheduled to leave on the Monday before Thanksgiving, but if FD is offered on 11/23, then I'll switch. I just hope the flight isn't too much more! I keep seeing it go as low as $164 to as high as $300. Our current flight was only $108. That's a big difference for 4 people!

Sorta off topic question. Is BOG at lunch considered a counter service or table service under dining plan?

I am going to DW on Dec 4-15. I was thinking of staying onsite this time- but it looks like free dining is on Dec 12th -22 If I book the days I am going to be there would I still qualify for free dining since I will be there still on the 12th? How does this work? this is our 2nd trip ever and have never stayed onsite. Is it possible to get free dining for the whole trip or just 12th-15th?

FD is based solely on your check in date. To get FD at all you would have to make two separate reservations, and since you are staying so long before fd starts, you would need two sets of tickets. For only 3 days of fd, it is not going to be worth the cost. Your best bet is to hope for a room discount to cover your dates. Good luck! :goodvibes

 Thanks for the kind words. I was recently asked by a company if I would like to become an agent, but I declined the offer. I am just a passionate Disney fan. We enjoy our Disney trips so much and anything I can do to help someone else enjoy their trip to the fullest makes my heart happy. Giving advice also helps me pass the time until our trip rolls around. :goodvibes

Only 87 more days! :yay:
