Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

I know about prepping. Have a bunch of clients reservations I need to change to FD. I love being able to send them an email let them know I saved them xxx dollars and they have no ideal that FD was out. That is one reason I love my job.

I know that this question is probably in this post somewheres, but there is a lot of pages to get through. I live in Canada on the eastcoast, what day would the offer go public for international, or even for a Canadian offer? which I used a few years back during November.

The GP FD offer comes out on 8/1...I would assume that you would be considered GP.

We were booked for our very 1st WDW trip the end of Sept with free dining (at BC)- but had to reschedule to Nov and lost the free dining (and had to chg resorts to Poly/ bc wasn't avail)- so, this is awesome news if it happens!! Our dates don't fall in the offer, but we're really flexible and can go just about any time in November. We're not visa holders so we need to wait til 8/1 to call to chg dates. I'm brand new to all of this, but what do you guys think are chances are of being able to get a free dining room for Nov (1st or 2nd week preferably - just about any 5 nights)at the Poly? I'm just super excited to being taking my ds for the very 1st time - plus nov is our anniversary and my 40th bday :)
Thanks everyone for your help! I'm finding myself becoming quite addicted to these boards! lol

You need to checkin by November 2nd or between the 11th and 23rd to get the offer, if the suggested dates are correct.

I could fit my dates into any of those that are offered, i'm just getting a little nervous because it sounds like alot of people are worried about getting rooms and the possibility of them selling out right away. I'm hoping if I call on 8/1 that I will be able to change our reservation and get in on the deal :thumbsup2
Honestly, I am having so much fun with the planning & stuff, but as a newbie, it does get a little overwhelming. I am so happy to have found these boards and all the advice everyone has offered! :)

It's in preparation for something...I think the systems are temporarily unavailable.

Early this morning I checked out a package for All-Star Sports for February 2014. Just now I was taking a look at Pop Century and there was no availability. Flipped to four other resorts and adjusted dates, same thing. Okay...that doesn't make sense even though it's a busy week in Feb.

So I went to the "old" back door reservations site at https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/reservations/ and got this message:

System Unavailable

We are unable to process room or package reservations at this time. Please try again later. If you have general questions regarding a Walt Disney World® vacation, please feel free to contact us at (407) 939-7675. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call.

The reservation system is back up now :yay:

The worrying is mostly for those who want a specific resort/room category and don't want to change one and/or the other. As long as you're a little flexible with that, you should be fine. There will be rooms & resorts available for the FD offer. Some will just sell out sooner than others. Hope this helps a little?

Because you're so flexible with dates, I think you chances are extremely high for getting a room at the Poly. Just to make sure you are getting the best deal, did you compare the price with a possible room only discount that is speculated to be released the same day as free dining? In the past, and current offer, the RO discount is 30%. Good luck!!!:woohoo:

It will definateley be a better deal if it's room only for us- I have alot of gi issues and can't eat big meals at a setting & we don't do much of fast food meals- I usually order appetizers instead of meals when we do go out to eat here- so I would much rather have the room only discount IF that comes out too- but if it's just the free dining we'll certainly be extremly happy to get that too. I can do a meal & just eat part of it. It's all good! Just sooo happy to be able to take our ds to WDW this year. Neither my dh nor myself have ever been- our parents didn't have the means to do so- and I honestly thought it'd be a few more yrs before we'd be able to go- just started looking into it the 1st wk in june and booked the folowing week later. Did not have any idea of how much planning & stuff needs to go into a disney trip. Now I'm happy we changed from Sept. to Nov., it gives more time to get everything situated & planned.

These boards are great for us newbies!! I just keep thinking, if I never found these boards?!? :scared:

Have fun planning your trip & I'm sure you'll have a magically 1st trip too!!:tink:

Oh I soooo agree! I have learned so much and hope to be one of these wise Disers one day. Lol. I agree with Pluto that with your flexibility you have a great shot at a RO at poly. Good luck!!

Price out both options before you book. Room only is usually better deal at deluxes but this last offer room only at poly was only 20% not 30 like previously.

Totally off topic question. I know many have Disney Visa, do thought this is a good place to ask. I have a rewards card that expires in Dec 2014. But I thought I read that the rewards are only good for 6 months or a year after redeeming. Are my rewards actually good until December 2014? Not that it really matters I plan on using them all in November but was mainly curious. :)

Since this is our 1st time to stay on property, I didn't know about holding out for certain packages or that discounts come up from time to time. We thought the opposite- that prices could go up or rooms could fill up so I just booked what worked for us at the time (also b/c of airfare). When the CM told me that they could adjust everything if a discount came along, I was relieved (I'm typically a bargain shopper)!

I have been eagerly awaiting news on FD b/c I thought that was going to be the deal of the century. Now that I've read more and more, I wonder if a RO would be better. That said, after reading further, I wonder if it won't b/c we are booked at a Value (Pop) and it seems the better discounts are for mods/deluxe.

Just to recap, here are our stats:

Dates: 11/11-11/19
Where: Pop (MYWP)
Who: Me, DH, DS4
Character meals? One. Maybe two (if we figure out he reallly wants to see Oso- this is a surprise so it's hard to gauge). We have several booked with the idea that we can cancel before we head out there. (Chef Mickeys, Cape May, Hollywood and Vine (all breakfast) and Crystal Palace (lunch).
Tickets: 5 day PH
Extras: Planning on MVMCP 11/11.

Whatever $ we save will go towards transportation towards going to Give Kids the World for a day. Still working on that one.

Please feel free to give your opinion while we all wait on 7/29!

What do we do if we call in at 7am on the 29th and the CM doesn't know about the Disney Visa offer yet......and it hasn't been posted on Visa's or Disney's website, so there is no official proof of the offer? Sorry....too much time on my hands plus stress overload from all this waiting!

I'm pretty certain it's the expiration date on the card itself that is important. Any redeemed reward dollars on the card need to be used before the expiration date on the card, or those reward dollars are forfeited. So yes, I think you can use what's on your card in November. I've never heard of the dollars themselves also having an expiration independent of the physical card they are "on."
