Free dining means how much to you when booking?

How much of a factor will free dining play in your booking decision?

  • It is the reason that we will book!

  • It doesn't really matter

  • I don't like the dining plan so I don't care one way or the other

Just wondering how much of a factor free dining will play when you are booking your Disney package. We are going whether or not it is offered, but free is ALWAYS nice!

The DDP being free really doesn't matter to us. If we go this year we will be using the DDP whether it is free or not, that's if the funding for the trip comes through. :rolleyes1

For this year, it may mean everything. My DD wants to take a friend with her to WDW. The only way we can really do it successfully is, if we don't have to worry about meal costs. Each girl will pay for her plane ticket and park ticket, I'll cover the resort costs and extras, and food will be on WDW. Fingers crossed.

We didn't do free dining last year as it all fell during my kids school days, and they are too old to take out for a week. We traveled in mid-August and paid out of pocket for part of the trip and DDP for part of the trip (split stay).

We are hoping for free dining in August 30th - September 7th 2008. My twins will be in the 6th grade and our daughter will be in the 8th grade. I am a sub teacher at the school where they will be going. I know that taking them out for a week is going to be hard, but our school is starting late this year. Not sure on what date yet, but we do know it won't start until the 20th or 25th of August. So they won't miss too much if it is only the 2nd or 3rd week of school. Our kids never miss school unless they are really sick. This year my 7th grader as perfect attendance, but will be out only 1 day due to getting her braces off. Most teachers will work with you and then you get some that will not. However, if we do get free dining that will save us $$$$1400 and to us that is alot of money. We will stay at a value resort and have to get 2 rooms, a 7day ticket and will only cost us around $$2400. That if we get free dining. That to us is a great price. Your looking at 5 adult prices here. Hoping for free dining. We hope the weather is not too hot or no bad stroms.:thumbsup2

Yeah we are taking DS5 out for the week. He will be in Kindergarten, but he is in PreK now and will be doing the summer program. So really, he won't have a typical summer vacation this year. (Probably the only time that this will happen). So to us whether or not the free dining is offered we want to go. Then after this year, we will probably have to try to figure out Disney trips by taking long weekends or going when there is a full crowd. Yuck!

Hi..I am clueless to this, but how do u get free dining?

Well it has been released in about April in the past. We are all holding our breath to see if it will happen again this year. There is a window of late August through late September where it has been applied before. Trust me, if it is released, these boards will have every bit of information about it! Here's hoping....:thumbsup2

Wouldnt that be WONDERFUL!!! When should we know more about that??

Tis one of the reasons I am now going in Sept. I want the free dining to save some money and Since we are going in Sept this time around I might as well try and use that code. If we miss out then I will go anyways because I'm in love with Disney LOL.

We will go either way, the difference being it will be on-site for free-dining, and off-site without it. We can get a "luxury" type hotel off-site for less than a moderate (w/ our gov. discount) so if we have to buy food why not stay in a nicer place? But, for free food, Disney hotel here we'd come!:cool1:
