Free dining is here for the Fall

Word in from high above...

Free Dining is on for Thursday...the original leaked date of August 1.

Port Orleans French Quarter, Art of Animation, and All Star Movies are EXCLUDED from free dining.

When is free dining information typically announced? We are going Feb. 1st - 7th (right around 186 days away)....I know I'm early but just curious when I need to keep my eyes and ears open.... Thanks!

Last year for winter it was the Stay Play Dine special and not free dining.

I certainly hope so. I've been watching this like a hawk.
This would be a nice perk for our first family visit in November at POR.

Well we have opted to abandon POFQ and switch to Coronado Springs instead...the food court seems to be more of a variety for us vs PORS...

We thought about POP but figure why not spend the extra and splurge with a moderate :)

I LOVED Coronado Springs last year, but we're trying for POR this year. Although, with a baby, I'm wondering if it's a better idea to rent a house offsite.

All of Art of Animation rooms is what I saw along with PODQ and All Star Movies. This was confirmed to me by a good friend inside.

Oh no my favortie is french quarters. I love that it is so small. Any sugestions where I should stay now?

If you like POFQ, you may like Port Orleans Riverside next door. If you don't like alot of walking at the resort, you can see if a preferred room is avaliable which would place you close to the riverside mill food court, main swimming complex, etc. I changed over from POFQ to POR last year as there were not any discounts for POFQ just like this year.

However I booked early for this October so at least I could snag a AAA discount on the room rate. I'll be staying with POFQ this year.

Quick question...........

If I call today and book my stay at Pop for October and free dining does come out tomorrow, will I for sure get the free dining as long as I call back tomorrow? I guess Im asking what is the advantage of already having your vaction booked prior to the promotion coming out.

There is never a guarantee you will get the free dinning. Disney has a habit of letting you cancel and rebook (you never know that I what is happening because it happens in the computer) but there is no guarantee. Also there are only a certain amount of spots for each resort. If those spots are filled having a reservation won't help, they will just say there are no rooms left under that offer. What many don't realize is by pre-booking with hopes of a discount Disney looks at it as well that resort is already getting reservations so we can say it isn't included and then people will be priced to upgrade or won't be able to take part. T

I really hope the Chip and Co website is wrong about POR not being included in the RO offers!!! Thats what i have been hoping for

It doesn't matter at this point, I don't think. I booked several months ago just so I could book dining reservations.

It's simple supply and demand:

Caribbean 2112 rooms
Coronado 2112 rooms
Dixie 2112 rooms
Port about 950 rooms

If there are enough rooms available in the matrix...they will have promos
If they have enough sold...then no

There's nothing mystical about this...straight numbers

Port Orleans has always been popular...and 3 or 4 months out its gonna be close to sold

The answer is no...

There is no preference given by Walt Disney travel company to pre-existing or new reservations on promotion...it's first come first serve.

Say you and I are after the same room on a promo... You have a four month old reservation, I am logging in to book a new one. The promo starts and they only have 1 package available...
It's first come first serve... If I move faster, I get it...if you do, you get it.

The reality is that it doesn't make sense for them to even apply codes to existing reservations...if you look at it logically.
Those promotions are offered to fill out inventory based on their projections at a certain point in the forecast. So things like "free dining" are meant to sell new meat...not lower the price of what was sold.

Luckily the promos do bring in a majority of new bookings... So they don't care and adjust prices. If they didnt, and 75% of the promos were gobbled up by old reservations - resulting in a decrease of revenue... Then that policy would end.

But it's a fine line... They need to adjust well in advance to avoid large vacancy... So you or I as the consumer gets some choice as a "necessary evil"

Just booked my free dining and upgraded to delux! Just need to call tomorrow and cancel my other reservation and tack on the night before as it didn't fall under FD dates!!!! So so so ecstatic! Thanks to all for your advice! G'luck to the rest of you at booking!

I want to make sure I get everything I want tonight before I go to bed. Can I book my trip with free dining online now and call and cancel my other reservation in the morning? Will I lose my $200 deposit?
