Free dining is here for the Fall

Is the August 1 date confirmed or still rumor? We have packages for dates of travel during those times. Thanks for your help!

:welcome:

It is a mix of both. It is what is called a "confirmed rumor" meaning that it is a leak from within. Nothing is 100% certain, but the Aug 1 date looks to be accurate. Even if for some reason it doesn't come out that day, it should be within the next week or two. Best of luck to you! :goodvibes

Thanks so much! My husband and I love DISboards! This was the first "unofficial Disney" page we discovered a couple of years ago. We are regularly on this site looking for answers to questions we have or just perusing the site for interesting, helpful information.

Do I understand correctly? If we check in on Sept. 27, and the free dining starts on the 29th, we need to make 2sets of reservations. We will be checking out on Oct. 2. Does our hopper passes have to be changed also and what about our dining reservations? I will talk to our TA on Wed but would like to be informed befor I get there. Thanks for sharing.

New to this page as of today!

Really hoping this rumor is true! We are booked Oct 26-Nov 2 and it will save us quite a bit! Discount or not, though, we are still going and can't wait!!

If I've already booked our vacation and it is within the rumored FD dates is it imperative that I'm on the phone at 7am est. Aug. 1 to get it added? Is the FD something that runs out even if we are already reserved?

So, so happy to see our dates for December may be included for free dining. We've lucked out the last 2 years and arrived on the last day of free dining. Although it's a little cheaper for us to pay out of pocket, the dining plan is worth the convenience.

I think the waiting is the hardest!
I love reading the posts.
Two more days!!!!!
My TA feels pretty good that this is going to happen too.

Ok so this morning I see that there is another rumor saying that different resorts aren't included. I understand this as some resorts fill up and they don't have the need to fill rooms there..

But EEK...if it's a matter of changing moderate resorts we will do it...we have POFQ right now but I saw that was excluded with this new rumor set to be released August 1...

Anyone have opinions of PORS? We need queen beds which is why we're opting for these moderates...

Are you referring to Chip and Co.? Pretty sure their book by date is way off, so I'm not too confident in their excluded resorts at the moment.

Yeah it is Chip & Co's post...

With that being said either way we're gonna get some sort of discount somewhere it's just a matter of when...

In my opinion there is usually no reason to pay full rack rate / get no discount as normally they exist in some form somewhere.

In the last 7 straight years, I have only had to pay full price for room, tickets and QSDP once. :goodvibes

I reserved our rooms (FW cabins) from Expedia and bought 6 day parkhoppers from an authorized reseller. Can I still be eligible for free dining?

The only way you can get FD is if you cancel your Expedia reservation and save either your 6 day hoppers or your 2 day base tickets (which is a requirement for FD) for a future trip. FD requiries paying rack rate for your room and tickets through Disney directly.

In regards to POR--we stay there most of the time. My husband and 3 kids. The rooms are nice. In fact, they've recently remodeled. The beds are comfy and there is a pull down bed that one of our kids sleeps on. Very nice and affordable for our family of 5.
Hoping you don't have to change your reservations though! :-)

Free dinning is only for people who book directly through Disney.

Well, sort of, but not exactly. You can book with a travel agent in addition to booking on the Disney site. You just can't book through a reseller and you have to book a package that includes a Disney resort and tickets.

When is free dining information typically announced? We are going Feb. 1st - 7th (right around 186 days away)....I know I'm early but just curious when I need to keep my eyes and ears open.... Thanks!
