:yay:

We got it, too! :yay:

Plus, we live near Syracuse, too.

What are your dates? Are you flying?

Hello!
We actually live in Brewerton about 15 miles north of Syracuse. We (me, DH and DD(6) ) are staying at CBR Aug 20-28th. And yes we are flying! I would dread driving from NY, but I know lots of people do. My husband is a teacher so that leaves us to travel either during school breaks or during the summer. Although August is hot, we would rather go then rather then during Feb or Easter break ( you know how the airport here can be in Feb-one flight cancellation and you'll never get out).

When are your dates? Staying at?

Hooray that you got FD too!
I have been so excited all day but no one ( that I know) really knows what a great deal it is, so I had to share it with my new DIS friends, I knew they would be excited for me! I even sreamed like a 12 year old school girl on the phone this morning with the Disney CM, she probably thought I was drunk or just a freak!:lmao:

Hi Kar,

We live near Auburn, about 20 miles west of Syracuse. (I think my husband's band use to play in Brewerton, several years ago... hmmm... Sam's or Sam's Lakeside? Something like that.)

We need to attend a medical conference in Pittsburgh, August 14-16, so we are thinking of flying out of Pittsburgh, leaving the car there, and then the kids and I will fly directly home, SYR or ROC. Hubby will fly into Pittsburgh and drive the car back home.

We are currently booked for August 16 - 25. This was the ONLY week our whole family, or should I say, most of our family (4 of our 5 children) could make it!!! Crazy, I know, but between school breaks, gigs, college and work schedules, etc., (kids are ages, 7, 10, 18, 22 and hoping the 27 year old, currently attending at Upstate Medical, will be able to fly down and join us for a few days) it was August or Thanksgiving or Xmas (holidays are too crowded)!

We are excited and already thinking about where we want to make dining reservations. The kids all have their favorite places!

That is so funny that your DH used to play in Brewerton, it was called Sam's Lakeside (funny b/c it was not on the lake) and it is now closed (has been for at least 5 or 6 years).
Yes, I know just where Auburn is as we bought a car from Fox in Auburn.
It sounds wonderful that you are able to get your whole family together for a trip, hopefully your 27yo will be able to make it.
This is will be our first trip just the three of us (my daughter is 6). Last trip my 17yo neice went with us, which was great b/c my husband and I had a few nights to get out and my neice could stay with my daughter.

Have you ever been in August before? Beware it is very hot! We went in August 2007 and I could not believe how humid it was! Everyday was a bad hair day, so I figured, hey it's going to look bad anyway and just left my hair damp and wore a BB hat. It was so much more tolerable doing that. They also had mister fans for about $18 at the parks and I thought there is no way I am spending $18 on a fan and who would want to spray water on their face ( I mean I just put makeup on) well by day four I would have paid $100 for one of those stupid fans and could care less about my makeup, as it melted off anyway!:rotfl2:

One suggestion for your child in med school, Air Tran out of ROC has some really cheap flights and have afternoon flights that may help you out ( esp if it may be last minute). You have to go to their website directly.

Have you ever tried Chef Mickeys for dinner or Hollywood and Vine? I hear mixed reviews. My DD really wants to see the characters at H&V, but I hear the food is not great.

Oh, where are you staying? Did you get two rooms or a villa?

Great to talk to you!
Can you believe there was snow today? I thought my co-workers were making it up- well that's Syracuse weather!:lmao:

I got Coronado springs for 4 nights September 26-30. It will be just DH and me. I have always wanted to stay at CSR, so I am really excited! I am really wanting to try the pepper market. It looks like some really good food, especially for a CS credit!

Hi,

Sorry I took so long to respond, was taking care of a sick child, all is well now.

Yes, we have visited during the summer months, July 1997 and then last year, we went from Aug 23 - Sept 2. Not my favorite time of year to go but better than not being able to go at all. I didn't do my hair, either, just scrunch and go! We had the misting fans. A few weeks before Disney last year, we went to Hershey Park with friends, and I purchased them at Hershey. We had to don the rain ponchos a couple of times, too.

We are trying Pop Century - 2 rooms. On past trips we've stayed at the Beach Club, Port Orleans Riverside, ASMusic and ASMovies. (Back in the 80's, I also stayed at the Disney Inn, now Shades of Green.) The kids wanted to return to Riverside but with needing 2 rooms, that raises the cost X 2, and I'm trying to keep cost down as we are going to a Red Sox game in July, and I want to spend a few days on Cape Cod. (Gotta get my beach fix. :beach: )

We love Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We did H & V in Feb. 2006. We brought our nephew, ('cause we don't have enough kids :lmao:) and this was the only restaurant available for the Fantasmic Package. This was his first trip, and we wanted to be guaranteed seating, without wasting a lot of time in long lines. It wasn't horrible, but we have never felt the need to go back, either.

The kids, Disney experts that they are, are already listing the places they want to dine... we have 2 votes for Teppan Edo in Japan at Epcot, 3 for Chef Mickey's, 1 for the Coral Reef, a 17 y/o that just has to dine with the princesses, and the little guy, who wants to SIT in the cars at Si-Fi Dine-In, but not eat there. :confused3 If the parents get a say, my DH wants me to try and book Hoop Dee Doo, (still haven't made it to this.)

Now, about the snow... I LAUGHED, :rotfl: and ya wanna know why I could laugh... 'cause I booked Disney and booking a trip to Disney makes everything else easier to deal with! pixiedust:

It's so great to correspond with you! Sorry about the sick child:sick:-that's the worst-glad their on the mend.

I am sure you will like Pop, I have heard good things about it from people that came back!

Thanks for info on H&V. I think we are going to pass, I haven't talked to anyone that said it was good.:confused3 We love sitting at the cars at Sci-fi too - food is average but the ambience is great :dogdance:
We are also going to try Ohana this trip.

Have you ever been to HoopDeDo before? We always use to go when I was a kid and I thought it was so Hokey (I was to cool for that), but as a older teenager and now as an adult I have a great time. Last time we went my daughter (4 at the time) and neice (17) both loved it! My husband and I had a great time too!:) My husband liked that the Beer was included ( or maybe I should say unlimited):lmao:!
He is so happy that we got free dining b/c now he's thinking more drinks around the pool and I'm thinking more Disney Shopping!

Yes, August will be hot, but like you said you simply deal with it.

I think that planning your Disney vacation is like is almost as much fun as going and it's great that your kids are so involved!:yay:

My husband wants to sign up for the surf lessons at TL, he has always wanted to try surfing and I figure it would be fun for him to do something different while we are in the World. And I am going to sign up DD(6) for the pirate cruise at CBR.

*as a side note-my daughter is picking out all the little faces/symbols in this message if some seem silly*

Have a great night! Enjoy the nice day tomorrow! I will be in my office so I won't even notice how nice it is:sad1:

Cheers!
