How many people do we have on DisBoards planning a trip including or during Free Dining?

I'm conservatively guessing Disney World has 30 resorts each with 350 rooms average, and if they put 20% of the inventory up for Free Dining... that's 2,000 free dining rooms to fill. DisBoards probably has 200 people going, so I'm guessing we take 10% of the rooms?

So that should be GOOD NEWS if there are still 90% rooms left.... I'll factor in Bounce-Back took 800 rooms and Overseas offers in the UK took another 200 rooms..... So I"m guessing about a 1,000 rooms up for grabs between travel agents and people waiting to book Free Dining after the Visa promotion.

Anyone got a better guess? :)

The only thing I didn't factor in... this is the 3rd year of free dining and seems that people now have it on their radar and are very well informed, gone are the days that only the disboard members knew about these little tricks. This could change everything.

Also- Just for fun, whats the hardest resort to get? Anyone want to guess?

Well, your numbers are off by a considerable amount. Disney has 23 resorts and about 25,000 rooms. The Value and Moderate resorts have over a thousand rooms each, as do a couple of the Deluxe resorts.

There will be plenty of rooms to fill! However, some of the more popular resorts and room types will go first, of course. I predict BoardWalk, Polynesian and Wilderness Lodge will be among the hardest to get with the Free Dining package as time goes on.

Thanks for the info on room numbers popcorn::

I think you're right about which resorts fill up first. I think you can always find the deal in a less popular resort among each price range...I've gotten deals at the Yacht Club well after the Poly, Boardwalk and Beach club have sold out.

I am going 9/21-9/27 but not with free dining. My discount at the BCV saved me over $700 and the free dining would only have saved me over $400.So I am sticking with my code.I still have the dp, I just paid for it.

We are going with the bounceback too. I am happy I didn't have to try to get what I wanted today.

Oh how I wish I was walking in the shoes of the people with bounceback offers!! Today has been crazy!

We went to WDW last Sept. and we didn't book the bounceback. I know, I know, I kick myself everyday for not doing it when we had the chance! :sad2:

But we did get the free dining offered today! :) We are going Sept. 15-25 staying at POR. There is 6 adults and one 3 year old in our group. We were able to book 3 rooms, prefered rooms for $2675 for two sets of adults in a room and $2975 for two adults and one child in a room. All with free dining!! Yay!!:dogdance:

We're there too, bouncing back, 9/14 -9/27/08, with free DDP at WDW! :cool1:

We are staying at Pop Century in a preferred location and all ADR's are made! :woohoo:

Just a little over 5 months until we go!

We're going with free dining - booked last year's bounceback special. :) So I didn't have to call today!

Aw now, guys . . . the "hunt" is part of the fun! Come on . . .

Setting up the speed dial, lining up the phones and the back-up phones, setting the alarm for an ungodly hour, placing your typed notes on a clipboard (with Disney VISA clipped on top), drinking the 5 extra cups of coffee, waiting up to an hour (or longer for some) to actually speak to a CM only to be put back on hold while the CM mouths to co-worker about you and your greedy request to switch to free dining ( ), having the CM come back and tell you that your requests have been met ( ), gushing words of thanks and appreciation ( :lovestruc ) to a CM who really just wants to be back home in their bed - I mean REALLY . . .

Who REALLY wants to miss all this fun!?!?!? :rolleyes1 :upsidedow

Hahaha!! Let me tell you, setting the alarm for 3:30am to accommodate for the time difference (I'm on the west coast) was definitely not fun. I never knew how many weird tv shows were on at 3am!!

But it was so worth it! :)
