Free Dining Extended, slight rule change

Hah. The one time I get a PIN code for times I can use, and the offer basically ends up going public. Yay me.

The just had a news clip on tv for free dining through december.

It's for packages of 5 nights/5 day ticket. Value gets the Quick Service Dining plan, moderates and deluxe get the regular Dining Plan.

If this fits your plans already... might as well get the free food to go with it.

That's a BIG change. QSDP, versus the regular DP. It's probably smart though. I'm going in September on free dining and staying Value because it is such a good deal. Dining plan for 4 of us (2 Adults, 1 "disney adult" and 1 child) is about $140 a day -- We're saving over $1200 for our stay on food and only paying $82 a night. It would have cost over $600 to do a mod, so we're sticking with POP.

By restricting the full dining plan to mods or better, they will fill more of those rooms. Those looking for the cheap vacation will do the Values.

There's a smaller limit on value resorts available for this. I think it's disney's way of filling up the deluxe resorts.

The quick service plan isn't bad either. You get 2 counter service meals and 2 snacks a day and a free refillable mug for each person. As it is, there's plenty of CS meals that can be split for two giving you extra credits to use later on.

The pin code I got (saved, but haven't used) was for the normal DDP not QS and good on a 4 night package. The title at the top was "A delicious disney deal no matter how you stack it." :confused3

It figures that they would extend the meal plan after we already booked lol.:) I think we are going to stay with paying for what we have. We are staying for 4 days 3 nights with one day of VWMP tickets and one day of park tickets. We have the basic meal plan. Plus we have a 3 day bounceback cruise too. I can't see myself eating QS meals during my stay. I love to try out new places. I am still keeping my fingers crossed for a pin to be upgraded to Saratoga Springs though!

Right, because yours is a pin code. I believe the OP is referring to the new deal (or general code) that has just been released to the public. But I could be wrong...:goodvibes

:thumbsup2 You're right, my trouble-prone tink loving neighbor - how the heck are ya? We should meet up with a certain cow fan sometime and have lunch then do a little low end shopping. I hear there's lots of fun to be had over there if you have the right friends...:wave2:

Anyway, the code OP is referring to is the new free dining for general public that was announced to TAs this morning.
There's a pin code out now too for those dates that FigNewton was commenting on in a post after OP saying it figured the only pin she got went public anyway. That pin came out in mid-July and offered DDP.

Until the last six months they never sent me pin codes - maybe b/c of my TA status or maybe b/c they know Mickey's always gotten most of my money anyhow. I wonder if the powers that be just realized they're now actively competing with AG and Gymbo for my wallet. :rotfl: Oddly enough though and to my pure delight, in the past several months when pins were released I've gotten one at each email address - each with the exact same pin number and in my name...:confused3

 Right back at ya! I'm doing great and you? yeah, the cow fan and I did lunch last week to catch up, we hadn't seen ea other in months and we only live 2.5 miles apart. Sad isn't it? We've been having a problem over here at our 'low end shopping venues' though w/ this one guy (who flea markets all of his purchases BTW :sad2:) clearing our shelves of a TON of stuff on Sat evening when the new sale is set. :headache: I'm game for a get together. I forgot what county are you in? You can PM me if you don't want to post it. I completely understand. BTW, are you going to the AG sale? I thought you had shared that you've done that in the past. I would love to go, but it's just not possible.

I think the BIG difference is in the values. the general public code is for the free CS dining plan and you can pay the difference to upgrade to the 'reg' DDP. All the pins I have heard about are for the 'reg' DDP free at all resort levels. For which I have booked a quick trip to the 'world' prior to our cruise this Nov. But, :ssst:shhhhhh.... My Kids don't know. I don't know that I'm going to tell them for awhile. Umm maybe a week or so before we leave. :teeth:

bolding is mine....
Yeah the same exact thing is happening to me. :confused3
Last year we did a HUGE trip (for us at least) a combined 11 days at the World and on DCL (w/ a MNSSHP too). Maybe the CMs were eavesdropping and heard us say that we weren't going to come back in '09 to save some $$$$. So they sent us an offer I just could NOT refuse. First in the form of an awesome deal on a 3 night cruise, and then free dining in Nov when we like to go because the kids have at least 3 days off from school. Maybe Mickey was too sad to hear that news? Maybe pin trading is slowing down and they needed me to come back and make my 200+ trades on a trip? Not sure why, but for whatever reason, Mickey needs me to return to see him. :lmao: So being the good compliant fan of Mickey that I am, I am honoring his request and gracing him with my presence this fall for 10 whole nights. WOW!!! So much for saving $$$ this year. :rolleyes1

If you stay at a value and get the free counter service plan can you upgrade that to TS plan and if so how much is the up grade? We are thinking of booking a trip arriving on 12/17 and making it part of Christmas present :santa:

I'm actually changing my trip from Sept (reg free dining ) to Dec to get quick service dining instead... (im stayin at pop) I had a heck of a time getting into table service restaurants that I would eat at (im picky) and my personal philosophy is why waste time at a table service resaurant when the parks aren't open all that late because its off season so I would rather to quick service anyways...
Granted thats not the only reason for the change.. I've never done MVMCP but I have done MNSSHP at least a dozen times the weather is SOOOO much nicer and its X-mas season I LOVE the feastival of lights

just my 2 cents..

I am so excited about the free dining extension! We have been putting off booking our vaction for November because the friends we are going with want to stay in value and we want to stay moderate. The free dining was the deciding factor and we are staying at the CBR! I can't wait. I have only stayed at value resorts before this.

I am also excited because only 2 of our travel dates are on the free dining days, but we got the whole 5 days free!

I have never been to Disney at Thanksgiving. I can't wait!!!!!!!!
:cheer2:

I called yesterday and upgraded our Pop room only to a package. We are doing the Plus dining because we could get table service. It was a difference of $240 for 8 days for 3 people (little one doesn't count yet).

Now see...I may seem weird...but I would rather stay at a Mod and get the Quick Service plan. I don't want to deal with sit downs at all.

I don't think it would work for your dates then. It was explained to me that it ENDED on 12/17. So as of 12/18, there would be no more free dining. I know that this is probably not making sense since the free dining in Aug/Sept/Oct is set up as long as you check in by the ending date of Oct 2 (?, I believe) you get free dining for the length of your stay. This one, because it is getting close enough to the holidays that they don't have trouble filling rooms, ends on 12/17 period. So any days after that would not be considered for your free dining pkg. This is how it was explained to me by the CM and their supervisor.

I am right there with you..only my DD likes the TS, LOVES FOOD( all 100 lbs of her @ 19) the one big thing I dislike about the DDP is that there are other places we would like to try that are not on it, like Fultons for example, and it is tough to pay OOP for an expensive place when you are ALREADY committed in the package price to WDW. We also found that we lost a LOT of park time one August when we did FD...and we were at the Poly so had pretty good transportation to at least 2 parks for a time saver. We have FD booked for CSR, but I think we are going to go with the Dolphin room only, the location is awesome, DS likes interior doors, since their restaurants are NOT on the DP maybe they won't be jammed and we can use our AAA discount, won't feel bad if we decide to eat off site for a meal or 2..just like the flexibility. We are going over Christmas so crowds are a huge factor...we really need to be able to changeour plans on the fly and if we end up eating a lot of CS to accomodate that, cool, at least I won't feel like I asted the package price of free food...I mean, rack rate at Christmas hurts...I would totally stay with CSR room only, but since that discount ends the 24th, I am doing better at the Dolphin thru the 28th on their AAA discount. Good thing is, hopefully WDW is hanging in there and lots of folks get to come and have fun however works best fr them. I can deal with crowds if they are HAPPY crowds, so YAY to WDW for offering tons of options!:thumbsup2
