Free Dining Email Question

Hi all, I'm new so please bear with me if this question has already been answered.. ;)

I received another free dining email with the same PIN# I had in the first email a month ago. I had called trying to book a room last week and was told there were no rooms available with that PIN. No problem I thought since we were just there (seriously, we just got back) so I figured it was a sign and let it go.

Today I received ANOTHER email for free dining with the same PIN#. Why send it again if there are no rooms available? So I called and there WAS a room available for the dates we wanted: Dec 14-17.

Now, All Start Sports has rooms for $59 available for the same dates that we booked but we couldn't get that rate since we were getting free dining. I understand not combining promotions, but I didn't think the $59 rooms was a promotion? Right on the Disney site it shows the rooms (for a standard) as being $59. No promotion needed...

Am I wrong? We booked anyway (and it's not like we're talking a huge savings) but I still wonder if I somehow got duped out of saving some more money (which we could use towards MVMCP)

Thanks for any insight! :goodvibes :goodvibes

It's funny because I was thinking the same thing. But here is my understanding of it. I booked the 40% off room rate first (which was a great deal) But then I recieved a FREE DINING offer for the same time in December that we were going so I changed it too add the FREE DINING. My price ended up going up $225 by added it because I couldn't combine free dining and the 40% off room rate which I understand. But my thought was why if I'am added FREE DINING does my price go up so much when it seems like EVERYOne is saving money and I'am spending more????? But I called and the CM to "break down the price" but she said she couldn't.Oh well I guess I will just have to deal with it. So I'am not real sure why if $59 is the roome rate on the web site why we don't get the $59 rate plus the free dinning.I guess I will be calling again to ask. Good luck let me know if you get any answers .:confused3 :)

So your telling me there's a chance that I MAY, just MAY still get the free dining email!:cool1: I got the one a month ago with dates only thru 10/11. We are going 12/17. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks Zippy. I'm glad there seems to be a consistant reason for it. It does seem silly though since the rooms aren't being advertised as being on a promotion. I'm going to call and speak to someone else and I'll let you know if I get anywhere.

disneymagicgirl - I'm not sure if the emails are just being resent or actually going out to new people. It was the same pin# I had gotten in the prior email a month ago. Plus the CM was pretty surprised when I mentioned it was sent to me AGAIN. She said that must mean more rooms were released. I'm not trying to be a downer, I just would hate to get your hopes up. It's possible though!! :goodvibes

OP - There were not rooms for the dates you wanted originally.

However, with the current economic issues, you have a lot of cancellations going on, freeing up rooms that were not available before. Many will put down the deposit but later cancel prior to the 45 day dateline.

This means, that if you are looking for a trip, the closer you get to that 45 day mark, the better chances on getting a room, as you'll find those that got recently canceled.

$59 is promo rate (general available). That's not rack rate. You are probably clicking on one of the promos. To see rack rate, just go to disneworld.com and then select Tickets and Reservations.
