Are those anticipating the free dining supposedly by rumor to be announced in April adding it to their existing reservation now?

For those with dining packages now, hopefully, will not have to re-book another new reservation..Hopefully, existing reservation can be adjusted if free dining is offered for dates traveled...

More info would be appreciated! What is the consensus thinking about those that have deluxe dining packages? I think a credit will be given for the basic dining plan.....

LETS HOPE THERE IS SOMETHING GOOD OFFERED!:goodvibes

It doesn't give you an advantage to book dining now, unless you want it no matter if free dining happens or not.

We don't even have reservations anywhere. I am waiting for the announcement and then I will make a decision. If our dates aren't offered, we won't be going this year at all. We weren't planning on a trip this year, so that's ok.

I'm not sure, but I would think you would need a totally new reservation because your total is changing. You would no longer be "purchasing" the dining plan. But, I would think they could transfer it over easily..........ofcourse, this IS Disney we're talking about. :rotfl:

And I would guess those wanting to upgrade to deluxe dining would be able to for a price. Again, this IS Disney.......:lmao: but I don't know anything about the deluxe plan.

If you have an existing reservation as a pkg. then you would not have to rebook. If you decide you would want to upgrade to deluxe dining then you would just tell them that on a existing pkg. Your total should not change from what you would have booked allready if disney does offer deluxe dining for just the upgrad cost. They would pay half (the upgrade to deluxe dining) and you would pay the other have ( what you have booked allready).
Even if you have to change resorts you still would not have to rebook because you would allready be in a pkg. and those can be changed easily. The only people that would have to cancel and rebook would be people that have a room only reservation. Those are not transferable anymore and not just converted into a pkg. Disney does now require that room only bookings be canceled and then rebooked into a pkg.
When visa pkg. come out in the past they have just resubmitted the deposit to the valad visa so that the pkg would qualify for the discount. I really hope this part to be true again. I have booked allready with the visa as the deposit and waiting for the day (hopefully the 8th).

So you can book a room and dining pkg now and then when the free dining comes out you call and adjust your pkg to include the free dining? Is this information coming from Disney?

Thats what I did. I booked in Jan 07 for Sept 14th. Made my table service ressies in March. Then when free dining came out called and switched to the free dining. With the savings I added 2 more days to our trip!

When booking a vacation package through WDTC, you will be subject to the following rules:

You must pay a $200 deposit within 14 days of reserving your package.

Final payment of the entire remainder is due 45 days prior to check-in. You have to pay in full right away if you are booking less than 45 days in advance.

You can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 45 days in advance. From 6 to 44 days in advance, there is a cancellation fee of $100. If you cancel 5 days or less in advance, you pay a $200 penalty.

Any changes that result in a rate change, such as applying a discount code, reducing number of days and/or changing to a differently-priced resort, made 45 days or less prior to arrival, are subject to a $50 fee.

I hope the above helps and yes you can but don't forget the tickets unless you are on a new AP pkg that does not require tix to have a pkg. I hope this helps. Also remember you can cancel any reservation without penality and full refund up to 45 days out so for travel for the first of Sept. my cancelation date would be July 16, plenty of room and time for changes and cancelation if things don't work out.

Wow! I never knew that. Thanks. I guess it's because we book room only most of the time since we've only done dining once and had AP's for two of the trips. Good to know.
