Free Dining + AP question

OK, I believe I know how this is supposed to work if you have an AP - we still need to purchase a 1-day ticket. My question is this: Do I have to call up and book it as a package (i.e. room + ticket)? If so, do I need to pay a $200 deposit, or would it just be the room value (i.e. the amount of the first day of the room)? Can I buy the 1-day tickets separately? Here's the tricky part. Our AP's expire Aug. 1. Can I apply the 1-day tickets to an AP renewal before my ressie starts, or would it have to be after?

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a little confused on how this package stuff works, because I've never done a package before, just room-only.

In order to get free dining, you must book a WDW package reservation, and you must purchase at least a 1-day base ticket for everyone in the room age 3 and over in conjunction with that package, not separately. The deposit is $200 with the balance due 45 days from check-in. There are penalties for cancelling a package less than 45 days from check-in, and there is a change fee charged if you make changes that decrease the cost of your package within 45 days from check-in.

You can't use the one-day ticket toward your AP renewal until you actually recieve them (that is, until you check into your resort). But you can keep them, and use them toward your AP renewal next year.

You must also pay the going rack rate for the room, no other discounts will apply.
