free dining and camping?

Well I am going to visit my parents in FL in June and we will do a lot of fishing then! Does that count? Fish from FL; surely that's good enough. I am still planning on camping at WDW in January. I can't ever remember if I've done any fishing in January, certainly not at WDW. I might for you though.:)

That'll work :thumbsup2

Love to see pics of Florida fish'n !!

and you know I'll be wait'n. popcorn::

They do not offer Free Dining for the campsites, because they allow up to 10 people per site. A hotel room only has 4-5 people. They would be losing a lot of money to let 10 people eat for free! :cutie:

They DO allow campsites to be booked with the Dining Plan - but it's paid for.

Just found this thread after writing a new one asking the same question! LOL
But anyway- the quote above/last sentence- that part doesn't make sense to me! If they'll let you BUY the dining plan- then why couldn't they solve the "problem" of more than 4-5 ppl at the site when it's free dining by ONLY allowing 4-5 ppl at the site to get free dining? Seems like a stupid reason (to me) for them to just completely disallow the dining plan when all they have to do is restrict it same as a value woud be (4ppl per room) especially since now the sites can cost the same as a value resort! I can't imagine ppl would be upset if they just allowed up to 4ppl getting free dining (and I'd imagine that would mean like if you had a family of 5 or 6 or something that you'd just PURCHASE the dining plan for the remainder of your family so you could all do it).

So they wouldn't be coming out any worse than a value resort/4ppl free dining and if the family was larger than 4ppl they'd come out AHEAD because the rest would purchase the dining plan- and they probably wouldn't have purchased it in the first place! I mean really how many people book a site at FW and then purchase dining plan for their entire family? I would imagine now many- considering you can cook on your own there..

(especially preferred and premium sites that generally have RV's there and not tent camping- those are the ones that cost about the same as value resorts and yet can cook on their own- so they probably wouldn't buy the dining plan. so giving the free dining plan limit of 4 might bring them more business when the rest of the family purchased the dining plan they wouldn't have otherwise purchased. KWIM?)

This was kind of my thinking too, but for some reason, no one at Disney asked me?!?

They should ask us- apparently we're better marketing experts than who they have hired! LOL
they can't make ANY extra off value resorts getting free dining- every single one of the ppl in the rooms gets it free!

I guess it all boils down to the rooms getting full -and them not having trouble filling sites at FW. But somehow I find it hard to believe that they have a hard time filling value resorts? Seems when times are hard (financially) that is where most people would go rather than not vacation there at all! :confused3

I am so new here, I forgot to ask: is it politically incorrect to announce a Disney trip that does not include FW in the "camping section"? If so I apologize, I didn't know any better. I will make it up in January 2010 at FW.:flower3:

This here's the camping board... we don't do politically correct/incorrect around here! Welcome!

I looked at your PP and nothing seems to be Off Topic so they are all fine. Just because you aren't planning a FW trip doesn't mean you can post your opinion about a FW topic.

I have no foreseeable trip planned for FW and I'm here.

And if you did post something off topic and it should go somewhere else it will just get moved.

fort reservation: Dad's cell/home address
POP reservation: Mon's cell/work address

It's not just for the free dining. You never know when the ladies are going to want to bail on the tent. ;)

I was mistaken, it wasn't free from Disney, but it was technically free to me. The company I work for gives a free trip after you been there for 10 years. I chose to take my family to WDW. We stayed at FW and we had the Dining Plan, bought 10 day hoppers w/no expiration and it was all free, including gas! Sorry for the mixup.

On a side note, has anybody noticed the decline in food quality & the increase in prices? On the past trip, we ate at a few WDW restaurants and they were terrible & cost over $100 for the 5 of us each time. Very disappointing. Next trip, we'll be doing all our eating at the motorhome.

Yes, we have also noted the decline in DD and the service.:sad1:

I've been asking for ages why campers at the Fort can't qualify for some kind of discounts like those staying in the other resorts do. I understand the concept of supply and demand and that the Fort is typically at capacity, so why have offers to entice people to camp. But it is extremely frustrating to not have any prospect of a package deal/incentive/discount/whatever if you stay in a campsite. I wrote a letter to guest relations and a rep called me about a month later and basically said, "I see your point but sorry." Maybe if enough of us continue to ask we will get some resolution to the issue. I love Disney World but I don't get this discrepancy either.:confused3
