I KNow this is probably a STUPID question but I am a Massive Disney Noob..

BUT

What really is this free dining thing and should I bother with it?

We are already booked in for the 10th till the 23rd..

Is what this means that if I just rebook those same dates but on some random date that I may be able to get the same rate BUT feed my family for free?

Is it literally as it sounds...??? That you get "FREE DINING" Can someone explain how it ACTUALLY is for me.. Its 2:30am here and Im lost

September 10th? Your dates will fall into the FD dates. If you have a Disney Visa, you can call tomorrow and book a new reservation that includes the FD. Does your original reservation include any discounts or special offers? What resort are you booked at? How many adults and children in your travel party? All these things will affect whether or not FD is a good deal for you. We have a travel party of 6, and stay either at Moderate or value resorts, so FD works better for us. If you have a small party, and are staying a deluxe resort, a room only discount may work better for you. If you want to PM me, I can help you out a bit.

Here's a question. Will my TA know to call tomorrow or do I need to call her and let her know? She has all of my info DV card # 1st, 2nd & 3rd choices so she's ready to go. She's also a certified Disney planner.
Thanks

Where is "here"? In the USA? I ask bc the promos are different depending on where you live.

If Yes, then Free Dining means you pay rack rate on a room and Disney "throws in" their Dining Plan (normally you would pay for this). With Mod and Deluxe resorts you get the "standard" DP with the value resorts you get "quick service" DP. (but you can upgrade the DP to the standard, for a fee) You can find out what each Dining Plan includes by googling Disney Dining Plan. You will find the full brochure available online.

You only need to rebook if you made a room only reservation.

I have a reservation for room only (no discount). I have also booked some ADR's but did not opt in for the dining plan when making my reservation.

My question is this: should I go into my reservation now and add the DDP to my resort reservation prior to the 7th (I don't have a DV). If I do that, will that allow me to keep my current resort reservation and all ADR's when the FD comes out provided the resort I choose and room level is included in the FD plan?

Your TA should be aware of the rumors, but it never hurts to double check

That really won't make any difference. The room that you have booked now will not come out of the allotted FD rooms. You will have to make a new reservation anyhow, might as well add the DDP when you make the new reservation...right smitch? Technically you don't just "add" free dining...am I correct?

I booked my vacation for sept before the ticket price increase. If I add free dining tomorrow (at 7:01 am..) will I have to pay for the increase in ticket prices? Or is it something they just add on to my reservation?

you will have to pay the ticket price increase.:thumbsup2

Sorry "Here" for me is Sydney Australia.. But if need be I have a US PO box if I need that to book the rates..

Hey.. We are two adults travelling with 4 kids aged 3 to 12.. We are atm booked into Art Of Animation... However when I look at the OP it says its not included but I thought it was as long as its not a little mermaid room?? Does anyone know..

If not we are happy to move but we need somewhere that all six of us will fit into the same room like in the suites at Art of Animation..

Does this help you to answer me?

If not sorry.

Also when I originally booked I booked with Disney Direct on their website... IS that where I need to go to find out these new rack rates or free dining on the 7th? (I dont have a credit card cant get one because Im not American and dont have a social security number.)

When I called to book right at 7 am last year the cm told me there was no free dining. I hung up got on here and others had booked it called back right away and waited on hold for an hour but I got it.

I thought you might be out of the US based on the time your message posted being many hours different from your 2am time.
Not sure how using a US PO box would work for booking IF its a promo exclusive to US residents. (???) Maybe someone else here can answer that.

I've heard others with the same experience. Someone said to tell the CM to check his/her morning memos.

Does anyone know where, when and how they will announce if the Free Dining is a go for DV holders beginning tomorrow? Is it something that will be emailed to DV holders? All new to this Free Dining thing, I have been to Disney just never used Disney Dining Plan before. TIA.

I just spoke to a CM, and they told me that he will be eligible for any special offers on disneyworld.disney.go.com...so that means they should be able to get the FD I am assuming

That's what I understand. You can call Disney directly, go on line (hoping their system can handle to demand) OR if you have a TA, let them do the leg work. I have seen on a number of sites reporting that CMs are letting it slip about date and probably exclusions AoA and POFQ is now on the possible no-go list. This affects us too as we have rez at the latter, but I won't ask our friends going with us to pay $700 more than they have to.

I really do think each CM is different. the gentleman I just got on the phone stated he has not heard any rumblings about Disney VISA anything and normally they let them know about 24 hours before.

While I had him on the phone he did check my name and all my old addresses since we recently moved.. Nothing sad to say. well DH promised if no DW this year next year we can do the Poly. :(

Chase sends out e-mails, sometimes. If I get one at all it's around dinner time.

People will be posting on this thread tomorrow morning as soon as they get a CM on the phone that says FD is a go; no way you can miss it if you check here.

I am so worried I'll get a CM who is clueless. I hate hanging up, calling back, and getting a completely different outcome. It's annoying after waiting on hold 10 mins.. I can't imagine an hour wait and having to do it all over again

if FD comes out tomorrow for Disney Visa holders tomorrow the GP offer next week will be the same so you will have time to decide which resort to move to or even if you need to. Last year FD included the AoA suites for one offer but were somewhat limited for the Nemo Suites. Seems to be a question right now as to whether all of AoA is excluded or just the LM rooms.

I have loads of questions if anyone can help? I'm in the UK and have booked with Disney loads of times but never through the US site so just want to make sure I get this right!

I already have a booking via Disney UK linked in MDE. If I book next week on the US site for the same dates will the system recognise I have two bookings for the same period? I just worry that it won't let me book one without first cancelling the other.

If our first choice (POR) doesn't have availability by the time the offer goes to the general public and I have to book our third choice, CBR (POFQ was second but rumour has it it will be excluded) if POR becomes available later will I have to pay an amendment fee?

If the rumours regarding POFQ being excluded are true does anyone know if there's a chance it will be released further down the line? It's showing all room categories available for my dates.

Lastly, when it goes live to GP does anyone know what time of day? I was going to be off on Monday when the original rumoured date was but I have to work Wednesday so won't be able to check at 6/7am but could check just after midnight.

Thanks
