Free Dining 2014 Discussion

It's based on the information we have, which is all we can do. There are three citings of "working overtime" on Monday. There is one citing of "working overtime" on May 1st as well. Overtime is a serious clue of when promos are coming since they know when phones will be busy. May 1st could very well be Halloween party ticket release as well. I'll tell you this...the days of having detailed info two weeks out are over. This time, one has to be a sleuth to read the leaves. But we are at least in the home stretch. :confused3

Could possibly be Monday. Last week when I called in, a CM told me she saw a few more people on this Thursday, to check today. I asked about next week and she no, the schedule looks normal.
So now If the schedule has changed to overtime, my guess is it's coming out Monday :) But I am not as wise as you!

I'm excited but not panicked. We are going with or w/o free dining (WDW, you didn't hear that!!). But..... of course, FREE food for 5 people would be a terrific bonus!

We are going with or without too, but with free dining we will stay onsite the whole time. Without it we will stay at the Swan for most of the trip on points. Since we are going a week that is not historically free dining I think this is what will probably happen, but I still keep hoping it will work out for us. At least a room only discount or something like the Memory maker promo would be nice.

I always try to find an "upside" to any situation. I've already decided that if FD is NOT offered and we have to be on more of a food budget, then I could use this trip to try more little "snacky" foods. Also I miss trying a QS meal that we've never had and all of us sharing it and then doing the same at at another QS. Since we've had FD for our last few trips we've felt locked into a certain dining pattern.
I'll tell you another thing.... I will come home with less "Disney Pounds" if no FD!!!!

So, that's my glass is half full theory on FD. Either way, I'll have a great trip!

Yes, that's one of my Plan B scenarios. Snag a RO Discount and use the $ off toward food. With 5 in a room, our resort options are limited so we will probably keep our stay at POR (AB). The summer offer included 25% off mods for longer stays, right? That would be nice!

I am a passholder but planning to go at the end of September. Is it more beneficial to buy tickets in order to qualify for the free dining or use a room discount and pay for dining? I am crunching numbers now, but wondering if anyone has been in the same predicament.

I'm in this same boat! I have no idea what to do because I'm a passholder and I'm not sure what the better discount is for me. Add to that the fact that my family loves upgrading to deluxe dining, and that want ME to figure our whether to use my AP discount (which is NEVER released at the same time) for them (we can book up to 4 rooms) and that people staying in my room with me don't have AP's!!! So I'm totally at a loss about what to do. Does anyone know- can I book a package and have 2 day park passes in my room, but give the others in my room 4 day passes?

hehehehe - such a great outlook! Even though I eat far more at Disney than I ever would at home, it doesn't matter because I walk and walk and walk so much every day it's as if it doesn't even count! We brought our in-laws with us in 2008 and my MIL actually LOST 10 pounds! I told her she needs to start making an annual trek like us :)

If I apply for a disney visa am I able to use it right away or would I have to wait for the card to arrive?

The disney debit visa counts right? We did not want to get another's credit card so we just switched our chase checking to a disney one..

:coffee::hourglass:scared::(:surfweb::faint: :rolleyes2:sad:

The many steps of waiting for free dining but in the end, most will get what they wanted. Outside of those with backed out dates or those who must have a specific resort that is not included.

Most people will be :thumbsup2:cool1:pixiedust::hyper: SOON ENOUGH!

This is exactly my theory for our October trip! Especially now that we have discovered F&W. It's amazing how much tasty food you can sample quite inexpensively. Yes, the portions seem small, but $15 worth of those "samples" can be quite filling, and the same cost as a QS meal (which I can never completely finish anyway). While I'd love FD for our upcoming trip, I really don't mind cutting back and sharing oversized QS meals and snacking "around the world". I know we can eat for much less than what the QSDP would cost us anyway. Free is of course better, but it won't make or break our trip.

Just as a quick reminder everyone, while you're at Disney this year check for a FD bounce back offer for 2015! I've done this for the past 3 years and it saves the springtime stress of waiting and hoping for FD to be offered. Even if I'm not positive we'll be able to go the next year, it provides great peace of mind for a $200 refundable deposit!

This year when you are at Disney call x8844 to check out available BB offers. Also, if only Deluxe and Moderate are advertised, ask about Value as they're normally available, just not advertised.

Hope this helps some!

Hello all,

First of all, thank you for this forum! I am from Canada and I am planning our first DW vacation and I have found a wealth of information on the board.

Just a thought here, but would it be normal practice for Disney to start a promotion after one ends? I am thinking it might make sense that the promo start next Tuesday as the free Memory Maker promo ends April 20. I'm crossing my fingers! Trip is planned August 22 to August 31 and wouldnt mind splitting my stay for a few days of eating for free!

Cheers

Alex

What is bounce back?

How do you get while at Disney? Is it open to everyone?

Gotta a question, I've always waited for fd to be released before booking like a good boy. We usually stay at value resort but this year we are staying at CBR. If I want a specific building should I call and book my room now or if I call right when DV fd is released should I still be able to get my desired room?

With the exception of a time or two, we go through this sort of thing. A few people panic, but that's the worst thing to do. Patience is key when awaiting a deal like this. I've been doing this for many years and I see panic build until the release hits, followed by a big sigh of relief at the end.

Will watch as wait as long as is necessary!

Absolutely! I meant to go back and add that I forgot! Thanks for the catch!:goodvibes

The price per adult (10 and up) per night to upgrade from quick to deluxe is $67.54 and for children (3-9) is $13.83 (plus tax) : )

I saw your post and just had a quick question.. Does the Art of Animation offer Free Dining?

Thank you..
