I've never had the DDP before so I'm excited to try it out. We'll probably be OD'ed on character meals by the time we're done - I booked 5 of them

We took DD6 and DD9 in 2012 to CRT (only character meal) and my wife and I enjoyed it as much or more than our kids. Not sure where you're booked, but thought I'd throw that out there. I hope you enjoy the plan!

Getting a little worried as I haven't heard from my TA and MDE hasn't changed. She reassured me last night she would be on this in the morning. Haven't felt this nervous since a big HS/college exam! Spread your pixie dust to me. Thanks:-)

I wouldn't worry. TAs have a separate line to call and they experience crazy waits. I remember last year some waited on hold for over 4 hours. Plus they usually have multiple clients.
You'll be fine. :)

I sure hope so, trying to roll the savings into 2 extra days

my TA still hasn't gotten through. The TA lines are jammed apparently. don't stress! we will get it! :)

For one I am paying $184/ per night per room rack rate because I don't stay deluxe. I didn't do DDP and paid out of pocket last year, with only a saving of $500 because we do eat a TS every day, mostly dinner, buy mugs etc. So even of you add the 20% ro and the $500 saving from paying OOP, I'm still way up. Now if you want to say SOME PEOPLE its not a true savings ..ok. But for me its a savings. We have tried renting through daves and and added what we would pay for the meals OOP, and FD is always better. I've been doing this for 12 years and I NEVER pay full price for anything, if there was a cheaper way, I'd find it.

As I said in my initial post, as long as people think they're getting a good deal that's all that matters. By the way, you're paying full price for the room plus tax and full price for the mandatory park tickets, so you ARE paying full price for everything to get the "free" dining. I will agree that if there was a cheaper way "you'd find it" because I just told you of a way. Also, you can buy tickets from places like undercover tourist, utilize disney gift cards (I got mine for 21% (16% from store and 5% from credit card) to pay for dining. PM if you'd like additional planning tips to help you get a good financial deal. I truly hope you have a great trip!!:goodvibes

Called at 2:34 PM
Finished call satisfaction survey at 2:49 PM

Booked at Grand Floridian for September with FD!:cool1:

Oh my goodness!!
I think I may faint and die!!
I actually just received the Disney Visa Offer in my email!!!!! :scared1:
This is the first time I have EVER received the actual email offer!!

So I guess I can no longer join in when everyone says they never get it. :confused3

I just got mine too! And an hour earlier than I predicted.

Any word on either PO resort opening up for FD now that so many have switched? I heard they have to have a certain # of rooms available to be included and the only reason why they weren't was because they didn't hit that number for availability. But they have to be by now with all of these people leaving.
Black; any thoughts please.....

turning into a Disney fanatic

Long time lurker here with a question, My fiance and I are booked December 14-20 for our honeymoon at WL. I'm considering hopping on this free dining offer when it opens to the GP but my concern is if the RO discount comes out and is a better deal, will we be able to switch if we already booked free dining?

Yes you can switch and it will probably be the better deal (RO). But do the math...(or have them check it). We went on our honeymoon last year to WL.

That's why so peeps don't use a TA.

Give your TA a call - it's your vacation and your money - and their job!

Thanks :) I have to wait for GP release and just wanted to verify if available. Glad to see it is.

That would be highly unusual Edit: Straight from the terms: A 3 night minimum stay (14 night maximum) and two day minimum park ticket is required for each person in the party.

I know. It's even confirmed on my email. DDP at WL. No ticket purchase. Maybe it was a fluke?

You'll have to provide me with me more details so I can show you where you overpaid. However, even without your details, you'rebeatefore you even start. A 10 night stay at AKL Savanna view 10/1 to 10/11 renting DVC points costs me $1,660 (166 points X $10/point). That same room at rack rate (which you are paying at your resort) costs $5,787. A savings of $4,187). But you would get "free" food for your $5,787. You also overpaid for evidently 7 park tickets and will be paying an 18% gratuity for all of your TS meals. If you would have eaten at all of these places to begin with and gotten dessert and drinks, then you would see some savings, but most of it is just as I said previously, "mental".:confused3

Where do you rent your points for $10 a point?

Calc it on a deluxe that is $700 per night.

Still confused. I think the first agent I spoke to this morning just plain messed up my reservation period. I just went on the WDW website and entered everything to get a quote just to try and figure out how she reached her price and undiscounted it comes out to $4,035.30. This is for 2 adults staying:

8 nights Oct 3-11, standard king room at CSR $1841
8 day park hopper $1072.16
regular Disney dining plan $970.24
travel insurance $151.90

She had told me $3970.06. Difference between the website and her price that she booked and emailed to me is $65.24. I don't know what kind of discount she gave me but it definitely was not a room discount or free dining. As I mentioned in an earlier post she was supposed to have booked me free dining. It wasn't until I called back and spoke with a second agent that I discovered she booked the wrong Disney Visa promotion. But even still, a savings of $65.24 is not 25% off the room. $460.25 would have been the 25% savings for 8 nights on the room only.

Hopefully I will be able to book FD when it comes out on Wed for the GP. We usually stay at POR (family of 5) but with that resort being excluded we will have to book 2 value rooms. Can I do this online at midnight or do I have to wait and call at 7am because we will be booking 2 rooms?
