>> FREE DINING 2011 WATCH - Read Post # 1 BEFORE Posting

Do you already have some other offer in place? Because the free dining offer should save you a minimum of about $900.00 of rack rate.

Oh sorry! I forgot to add that. We did one room with the kids free and the other rooms with a room discount. But I still would have thought the food discount would have been cheaper then 2 kids free tickets. Guess I was wrong.

So if you don't prebuy the photopass CD for $99 (reg $149?), then how do you get your "free" photo book? (Sorry if it was already asked this way - I skimmed really fast)

It looks like the free dining is not going to save my family a whole lot of money. It looks like it is only going to save us $231 and if you add the $99 book (which is included) then we are really only saving $131?! I am not sure that is going to be worth the hassle of waiting online to change. Maybe you guys can tell me if my math is correct? We are getting 2 rooms at pop for 2 adults and 3 kids (11,8,3) with 6 day base tickets and upgrading to the plus dining plan. I wish it did not include the book!

We are going for 10 days but only have 1 room and 2 kids. We have the kids free pomo. The new promo will save us 268.00. I don't really think of it with or without the book. Because it is a package deal and the book is just worked into the price.

Luck has run out :sad2:
FD doesn't start until 8/28-Seems pretty late starting this year.

yes in the past it was earlier. It was offered as soon as the current deals expired. I think this is messing up a few people with the later dates. If you look at historic dates, i think it started on a sunday?? :(

You don't need the cd to get the book. The book is not really free you are paying for it. The only thing free you are getting is the free dining. But they worked the price of the book into the packages to make more $$$. You have no option to take it out. It is how the package is made up.

We are actually only getting 2 kids tickets free. The third kid is 11 (adult in Disney world) I was just pricing it out myself since I don't have the DV and will not be able to get the actually price until Monday. If we changed and stayed at a moderate in 1 room then it would save us a little bit more money but with 3 kids and 1 bathroom!:scared1: We have done it in the past and decided that we would try 2 rooms this time. We had already planned on going so if it is not cheaper then it will not change our mind but it would be nice to save more, but then I guess we are saving a lot against rack rate.

Sorry I correct my OP after I noticed your oldest is 11. The savings isn't as good with the book that is for sure. I don't have a DV either. So I need to wait til Monday the price for us to upgrade to a moderate would be around 560.00 for 10 days if we upgrade the QSDP to the regular plan. Not sure if it is worth it. So I have a few nights to sleep on it.

The book may be "free" but you are required to pay for the photopass as part of this package. It will add an extra $100 or so to the price of the package. No way to decline it if you want the free dining, so you'll need to add it into your calculations. I think Disney is anticipating that most will pay it just to get the dining and then never turn in their book voucher.

I'm a bit lost;I didn't see/hear anything about a photo-book when I booked-what package is that a part of?

Okay, I just called to get a dollar amount on this offer. Normally when you have a free dining offer, it is the same amount as a package offer without any discounts. This offer was about $117 more. The CM said the photo book has a value of $72. Grrrr...

So what you are saying is on top of the book that is $99 we also have to pay another $100 for the photopas. Now we will be doing the photopass but I just was wondering?

I actually just called and got a quote saying I had the Dv and is is about $130 cheaper. Wow! I don't know why I thought it would save us so much money. Maybe we will look into staying in 1 room even though I said no to that idea.

That's what I'm wondering too...If it includes the photopass CD then I'm pretty happy with that because we were going to get it anyway, but not one per room! My mom was going to get one. I won't be ordering our book if I have to pay and additional $100 top of what we've paid, but that doesn't make much sense to me since you do not have to have a photopass CD to get the book normally. If it includes the CD then I'm that much happier!

wow this is getting confusing with all the photopass stuff glad I have a vacation in Oct. (no free dining for us (lol)) really hoping this gets extended. But congrats to all that get to eat for free

Ugh! It is over $400 cheaper to stay in one room instead of 2 at Pop. I guess because we are not paying for 2 books just one. haha

The Disney photobook and the Disney Photopass CD are two different products.

So, as part of the free dining package, you are required to buy the Disney photobook. If you want the CD that includes all your photopass pictures, you would then have to buy it on your own, completely separate from the package.

Hmmm...interesting move on Disney's part. First reduce QSDP at Values (this actually makes sense to me, as the saving of regular DDP vs room rate is HUGE). Second adding the photobook. That is pretty sucky in my view, but probably effective...it probably won't stop many people from booking. One thing I would say...Disney should have given you a few options with that $99....maybe either the photobook, OR the CD or the price equivalent on the photopass website. I guess we would still book if this is the offer for our dates though. Don't think ours will come out too soon though since we are in November.
