Free Dining 2008 Watch

can anyone tell me this
1. can a non DV cardholder make a ressie for the FD dates and get the FD with out the DV code
2. will the WDW agent ask them for a code:confused3

Until Thursday, you must actually use your DV to pay your $200 deposit. My CM even quoted me the first 6 digits of the card number (it must be the same for all DVcards), so don't think they don't know if it's a DV or not. I was pretty shocked  by her doing that. I am sure there will be plenty of rooms left by Thursday, as there are zillions of hotel rooms at Disney World, so you probably have nothing to worry about. :thumbsup2

Good luck! :shamrock:

Me and my family are book for POPC on 9/15-9/20 with the regular dining plan already set. If I switch us to the Free Dining plan do I have to rebook the rooms or will they just make the change to the Dining Plan?

Thanks

Confused

Hi confused....I was able to change the current ressie I had last year to FD, but it wasn't for POP, but the Poly which I know still had availablilty in early Sept. since I was actually able to extend our stay once on property? I honestly think it's sometimes luck of the draw with whatever CM you happen to get and maybe FD room availability at the particular resort? I've read here some people having problems with this and others no problem whatsover?

Let us know how it goes and good luck!

We've stayed at the Contemporary every year for the past 13. We normally stay between 10 days and two weeks. Our kids won't even think about staying anywhere else. LOL The prices have been raised quite a bit this year but we're still saving money by doing the rack rate+FD over the discount rate + dining (AAA) discount.

Be warned though. There is a lot of construction going on at the Contemporary this year. They are adding a tower plus moving I believe the steakhouse and bar to the lobby. We honestly don't care, but just wanted to let you know.

Congratulations to everyone who got what they wanted, thanks for all the fantastic info and good luck to all those who haven't booked yet. :thumbsup2

I'm not showing any availability at the Contemporary. How did you manage that or have you been booked there for some time and just added on FD?

Congratulations to all of you DV card holders that were able to get your free dining!!! :cool1:  :cheer2: :woohoo: :yay:

I actually have a special request for you guys - for those of us anxiously waiting for Thursday morning, could you please post where you are booked and for what dates? And if you're feeling really generous :flower3: can you also share with us the size of your party and how much your package was. Like for us, we're a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) that are wanting to get free dining with an upgrade to deluxe so I am really curious as to how much extra that is. :) Anyhoo, any and all info is much much appreciated!!! :goodvibes

I didn't get my email from DV until 9PM last night.Thank goodness for the Dis boards. I had reservations, ADR's and my flights all booked by 9 in the morning.

Amen to that. I still haven't received anything from Disney Visa and if you check your account under "View Disney Offers," Free Dining still isn't even listed.

If not for DISboards.com, many of us wouldn't have known about the promotion and may have missed out.

We are a family of 4 also staying at POR(2kids 3&5) We got the deluxe dining for $2822.42. I figured that we were saving money anyways mind as well go all the way and have all meals paid for(beside gratuity&alcohol). We had a AAA deal with dining for $2672 so we paid $200 more for deluxe dining. Great deal. We will save money after our first day at Disney.:yay:

How many days, nights are you going? That is a great price. What type of tickets?

Yep, that's why we added the Water Parks & More option to our tickets. We only went to Typhoon Lagoon one time last trip, but we loved it, and I'll bet we'll end up there midday at least a couple of times in September -- and it also includes admission to the PI clubs :thumbsup2

If, I have a 10 day park hopper & the water park option added. How many days, can I use the water park, and more features? TIA:goodvibes

My husband and I have already booked our reservation for an August 31 through September 6 trip. I am planning to call first thing Thursday morning, but I have a few questions:
  1. What is the likelihood of my being able to get free dining with my current Polynesian reservation?
  2. If we want Deluxe dining, can we pay "extra" for it?
  3. If we currently have the Park Hopper option, can we keep that (pay extra)?

Thanks in advance!!!

DH and I are going during FD period (we got FD with a Disney Visa card yesterday), we paid extra and got the Deluxe Dining -- saved $476.
We also have park hopper tickets.

Good Luck!! pixiedust:

Yeah!! We got it! POR 7 days/nights w/ FD 3 adults and 2 kids and parkhopper for 2800 Doing my very happy dance right now!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Ok-I already have ressies for the POP with AAA. I have NO reason to believe that the TA will be as diligent as I about getting FD added to my ressie. Should I get up and call myself to get ressies on Thursday to try and ensure that I get FD at the POP with the intentions to cancel my AAA ressie since I can't keep the discount anyway? My dates are 9/13-20 if that matters in any way.

One other question-I've seen differing statements regarding the FS at POP doing FD. Does anyone know for sure? Also how much do the FS run vs 2 rooms? As of right now, it will be myself, DH, DS (5) and infant DD for sure. However, my Mom & possibly Dad are considering going. If we stayed in the same room (2 doubles of course if they allow that, anyone know?), what would they need to do to get FD?

TIA!

I would call AAA again, since maybe you have to cancel the current ressies and then rebook, with the free dining, there are a number of packages with free dining, and once they are all booked, people wont be able to get the hotel they want.

Now, about the FS, I have only seen them available at the All Stars music. Its kind of high. I have compared it again and again, for my family, but 2 connecting rooms are way cheaper and mare convenient if your parents come. Your family fits well in one room, at pop if your parents are not coming. My sugestion is to make your ressies for 2 connecting rooms at Pop. and if they do no come and you cancel with at least 45 days before your stay, they will refund you 100%. Hope this helps.

Hi! We are booked from 9/5-9/14 at POFQ. There are 4 [all adults] and our package was $3180 for hotel, 10 MYW Hopper with WFM and free dining. We can't wait! Good luck Thursday!:wizard:

We (2 adults and 3 DS - 13, 11, 3) are doing POR 8/27 - 9/1 for $1210. I only opted for 1 day passes as we already have non-expiring tickets with 5 days left, except for DS3 because he wasn't 3 when we were there 4 weeks ago. I'm still debating on how to handle his ticket situation.:confused3

I did ask how much it would be to get into the Contemporary, and a garden wing/garden view room would be $2172.:scared1: That would have blown the budget up, so POR will be just fine.

Well... we have to have something to keep us occupied through September :rotfl2: now that we have this whole FDDP squared away... so since you asked...

We booked 2 rooms at Pop <Grand Gathering:grouphug: > with 5 adults and 3 kids from September 15th through 26th. We will all have 10 day park hoppers and all the kids are "Disney adults." Total cost is $4,472.64 for both rooms and all tickets... free dining is a life saver for the size of our party. (Can you imagine paying for 8 people to eat for 11 days??? )

CM was soooo nice pixiedust: and said she'd try to make sure they accommodate our needs, as my stepdad has some really bad arthritic back problems and walking disabilities. She said that she could "almost guarantee" that they would give us ground floor adjoining rooms since she was noting these things on the package at time of booking. :woohoo: (She was so great ... I asked her if she liked working for Disney, and she said, "I am still trying to decide..." So, I said, "Oh really? How long have you been there?" And she giggled :rotfl: and said, "Twenty-one years!" :rotfl2: ) She even came up with a really cute name for our GG group.

I am so excited about this particular trip because we've been with my in-laws (who are FANTASTIC  ) several times and had such wonderful times. But, this will be the first time to WDW for my mom! I can't wait and I am so excited she's getting to experience it with me and her grandkids!

Hope this answers your questions... good luck with your requests on Thursday! :shamrock:

Hi Paparazzimama here's the scoop on what we got!! :)

We are booked for POR 9/15-9/25 with free dining
Our party consists of: Me, DH, DS, My mom and dad, DH's mom and dad.
We have three rooms booked all with a waterview at POR.

Our total package cost was: $2975 for DH, DS, and me.
My parents package cost was: $2674 (same as DH's parents cost)
We have 10 day MYW with park hopper and water park fun and more.

My TA and a CM that I spoke with told me that if I wanted to upgrade to the deluxe dining that I would have to pay for the cost of the basic dining plan. So pretty much you would be getting the deluxe at the cost of the basic dining plan.
