Free Dining 2008 Watch

Wow - this is exciting!:lmao: :dumbo:

We did FD at the end of September 2006 (yes, during the Food & Wine Festival) and our trip STARTED on the last day FD was offered although we had FD the entire trip (through 10/05/2006).

We are booked for 9/21 - 9/29 @ POP. I booked through Disney with 40% off room rates.

If I changed my reservations for 9/20 - 9/29 do you think we would get FD for the entire vacation again since our vacation STARTS the last day FD is offered?

Would I need to pay full price for our rooms for our stay?

Should I just go to AAA and have them try to sort it all out for me on 4/10?

HELP!!!

It's not known yet. Because of a change in the booking system, it's possible that your entire stay must end on or before 9/20, if 9/20 is the last date of the promotion. Other promotions have been applied this way during 2008, but you won't know for sure about this one until you're able to actually try and book it.

The free dining promotion only applies to a full price room/tickets package, so you would have to pay full price for the rooms.

We are supposed to check in on 8/23 and stay til the 31st. Will we have to just do one night then book the rest as a separate reservation to get free dining? Thanks.

If the promotion start date is 8/24, you must check in on that date or after that date. You won't be able to check in on 8/23 and apply free dining. You'd have to book two separate reservations (one for 8/23 and one for 8/24-8/31), and decide what to do about tickets, because you have to book tickets with the second reservation (the one tied to free dining). You could decide not to do any parks on your arrival day, or buy a one-day ticket for that day.

My biggest question is if it is a 3 night or 5 night minimum?

Hi, couple questions for you since you seem to knpow what you are talking about. :goodvibes

My plans were for Sept 20-27th. If the travel agents mom has accurate info about the ending date of Sept 20th...oh boy. I HOPE I get to keep those dates. However, do you think I (a non-disney visa card holder) will be able to find out for SURE before the 10th, that they will or won't allow extending the dates if you book on the last day of the promo?

Secondly..if they WON'T, and I have to rebook, I think I would want to pick Sept 16th- Sept 23rd. So in that case, would the FD ONLY be applied to the until the 20th? In other words, we would get credits for only the first 5 nights of our trip?

Thanks in advance!
Brook

I have an annual pass and my daughter is under 3. I am booke at a value resort in mid-sept booked on my disney visa. no meal plan. On 4/7 what do I need to do to add free dining. Do i have to buy a park ticket?

I am wondering the same thing - if the email dates were correct -

I am checking in on Sept 17th and leaving on the 28th would I be able to get FD for my whole stay or will it end on the 20th.

Yes, to add free dining you must have a room/tickets package. But you can purchase a one-day base ticket if you have an AP and don't need length of stay tickets. Being under 3, your daughter doesn't need tickets and isn't old enough to get the meal plan.

Best I can suggest is to watch these boards and see if any of the Disney Visa people post about their bookings. I think there are several posters planning to book with Disney Visa. I sure won't be able to tell what will happen until the booking actually starts.

Assuming that August 23rd is the right date, that *may* materially impact me.

My situation is that we are staying at WL from 8/20 - 8/30. We are planning on having DDP for the entire trip, whether or not it is free. What I am wondering is how this would work. In my case, I know that I will have to make 2 reservations - 1 for 3 days without free dining, and 1 for 7 days with.

The question is, will I have to get 2 separate park tickets - 1 for the 3 day reservation, and then another for the 7 day reservation?

Or will they allow me to use a 10 day park ticket to cover both? :confused3

Thanks for any insight...

Would it work for you to get the 20% off for the first 3 days as room only. Get the last 7 days with the free dining and a one day base ticket at $76.77 per person. Go through the mouse savers email on they send out on the 15th of each month and buy discounted 10 day park tickets through them saving a few bucks over what Disney charges and use them for the whole vacation. Then just save the one day tickets to use for an upgrade on a future trip. We did it this way a couple years ago during free dining when we got in 4 days before our free dining package. Now to see if they will even offer free dining at WL which I think was one resort they didn't have available last year.

I'll post back about the booking (unless I'm on the phone ALL day Monday due to the call volume!) :yay:

Right now we're hoping to book starting on the 20th, but if FD turns back into a pumpkin that night then we'll bump up our dates so that we conform with the offer. We do not currently have a reservation.

thanks, I'm not planning to book (my August 30 trip is DVC) and I'll be in Vegas on Monday anyway.

I would like to know if they are going to require a minimum night stay and ticket purchase. We already have our tickets, and our stay will coincide with the first three days of free dining. I would consider trying for free dining as long as I can get 1 day base tickets and the minimun number of nights isn't more than 3. I'll use the base tickets on another trip.

We are booked for 9/18 thru 9/28. I hope that it doesn't just stop on the
20th that would stink. Let us all know what you find out on Monday

Interested to find out what happens too! Good luck everyone!

Thanks for posting the dates!! I have been waiting. Now if only I would wake up and have it be Thursday!!
