Free Dining 2008 Watch

When we went in 2005, it was October and it was DURING the food and wine. You could use your snack credits for the samples. (Ah, those were the good ol' days). I'm hoping they do extend it for those who really want or need it. Maybe they booked so many rooms already that they had to offer the general public something. After all, we did have to wait until LAST as far as rooms.

:)

What do you mean "we did have to wait until LAST as far as rooms"? Do you mean you received the last choice of rooms because you were on FD? :confused3

I think the original poster is talking about FD already being offered twice before as a bounce back and this is the third or final offering before it starts!

Just because you booked your room does not guarantee free dining, I found that out last year. I had thought you could just add the dining on if it became available also but that is not the case. They only have a certain amount of rooms from each resort that they allow the free dining plan. You may have to change your resort or dates and cancel your other reservation, but I am sure it will all work out for you!!!! There is always that magic!!!!

Oh, no, I mean't the offer for free dining went out to UK and bounceback before it was offered to the general public. If the rooms are limited it will be becaue a lot of people got to book earlier. Some did not go last year and were not able to book bounceback or don't live in the UK. Even those who do not have the Disney Visa will have to wait until another group books. Thats all I meant. I hope the dates are extended because it would give the general public extra days to book that no other group was offered. Of course, those who already have the FD will be able to change theres too but they are probably not even worried about it at this point. I really loved the offer the 1st year when it was offered into October. :thumbsup2

I WAS BOOKED LAST YEAR THROUGH DISNEY VISA FOR THE FREE DINNING BUT ENDED UP NEEDING TO CANCEL LAST MINUTE, LONG STORY.
WHAT I CAN'T RECALL WAS, DO YOU HAVE TO PUT THE ENTIRE TRIP ON YOUR VISA CARD, OR THE DEPOSIT ONLY IN ORDER TO GET THE FREE DINNING PROMOTION. MEAN I GUESS IN THE LONG RUN IT WON'T MATTER. I COULD JUST PUT THE BALANCE ON AND PAY IT OFF THE FOLLOWING MOUTH IF I HAD THE MONEY BUT I HAVE HALF SAVED NOW AND HOPEFUL I WILL HAVE THE OTHER HALF BY THE BALANCE DUE DATE.
WHERE DID THE NEW RELEASE DATE COME IN. I THOUGHT WE WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE 4TH NOW ITS THE 7TH? KILLING ME.

Last year I only put on the deposit at first and then charged the rest when it was due, I would think it would be the same this year.

So I only have to book with the visa and pay the deposit and then I can pay the rest off as we go? right? In order to get the free dinning I mean.

I've checked the three most reliable Disney-devoted websites I know - www.wdwinfo.com, and mousesavers, and allearsnet.com - and there's not a word about free dining. None of these sites would provide such information until/unless it's a sure thing - but then once/if it is, they'll be updated pretty much the instant the information is verified.

I'm NOT doubting the poster who related her conversation with that CM, but I'm reluctant to trust that one Cast Member's information. We all know CMs aren't always right; in addition, even those who are hoping for an October 6 end date need to be aware that this would be a Monday, and Disney's promotions generally start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday. Add that to Free Dining not being available starting any date in October except for its first year, and, well...

I cant believe I am the first to post this. My Mom is a travel agent. She recieved an email this morning from her Disney Rep. Here are the details for 2008 Free Dining. 08/24/08 - 09/20/08. OK. Someone has to teach me what to do. Where do I call? What time do they open? So I call (with my Disney Visa) on 4/7 with the "AYG" code??

We are staying Sept. 17-23rd. Will Free Dining Be covered the entire trip or just up through the 20th??

Wow! You made my night! Thanks for sharing. We were waiting for the Disney Visa code as well. :woohoo:

QUESTION, please: Does your Mother know if we can check in on the 20th and have the FD applied for the rest of our trip OR must our trip conclude by the 20th?

Thanks so much if you can help answer this question (I've seen posts addressing this saying both ways so it'd be great to have a more "official" answer from someone in the industry).

Those dates mirror EXACTLY what I thought might happen, so I am hoping they are right. I am totally not doubting you - I believe you - I just can't wait until it is officially posted. Even though we booked anticipating paying for dining, free dining would be wonderful - and we check in on the 24th!!!

ALSO, (we've never gotten the FD before so this will hopefully be our first time) is the pricing basically the same thing I see on the Disney.com site minus the cost of the basic dining plan? I'm asking b/c I've seen some of the Bounceback offers that give prices (ex. $455 or $465 for 5/6 vacay period) and that breaks down to a different night/day rate than the disney.

NOT trying to start an argument (I see a potential one in my pricing). My pricing differences are due to jotting things down and doing it old-school with a pencil and calculator. :)

THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN ANSWER THIS!

Thanks, merlinspride!!!!

I don't know you or your mom, but the dates she gave seem to make a LOT more sense than those given by a Cast Member and quoted earlier in this thread!
