Free DDP Booking SUCCESS!!? - Post 'Em Here!

I was only on hold for maybe 5 or 10 minutes. After I got through, my cell phone started acting up (:scared1:) but the CM took my phone number and called me back. It was pretty complicated, but she was amazing and called me back twice and made it all work out. Very impressive CS.

Anyway, we got Pop Century with 1-day base tickets and free dining for 8/26-9/1. The group is four adults and four kids in two rooms for $822.56 for the room where both kids are under 10 and $834.28 for the room where one kid is 10 and the other is 7.

Here's where it got complicated. I applied online for a Disney Visa card on Saturday (later in the day I was at the disney store at the mall and realized I could have gotten a $25 gift card AND probably my number if I had applied there, doh). Apparently I can book online but not for free dining, but they can't give me my credit card number on the phone for security reasons; I have to wait until it comes in the mail. The CM let me call Chase to confirm this information, booked everything with the free dining code and held it with a different visa card. She just put a note on it saying I would call when my card came in the mail.

We had planned to take this vacation at Hershey park this summer, but with free dining (even adding the cost of airfare) this will probably be no more expensive than that trip would have been, and way more fun!

Called today at 8:45 AM CDT and the whole call took about 45 minutes, with probably 15-20 min. wait.

Got exactly what I wanted - 2 standard rooms at CBR, 4-day park hoppers for 9/9-9/15. Total: $3231.63 (4 adults, 1 child, 1 infant).

Being the Disney nerds that we are, all of our ADRs have been made weeks ago! And I'm glad, too; a party of six is a hard seat at many places. Even got a great time at Le Cellier on Friday night!

Free dining here we come! :thumbsup2

   :cool1:

Yea!!! I was able to get POP 9/19-9/27...

8 nights 2 adults 1 child ( 2 y/o).. POP standadrd room, 9 day expiring, non hopping!! $1,199.40:banana:

I got an awesome CM who told me the hold times had been over 2 hours and that they had 200 calls in queue when they opened.. She cancelled my other ressie for Oct and made sure I knew that w/o the hopper option I couldn't use an extra day to "hop" if I wanted to eat dinner at another park. I did know this but I thought it was nice of her to tell me..

Now I can go book my airline tickets and figure out our ADR's..

I got POP from 9/12-9/16  Originally had AsMo but it was unavailable according to our TA at Dreams Unlimited. They were great. And I didn't have to wait on hold all morning. :woohoo:
1st Annual Mother/Daughter Trip (well, hopefully it will become an annual trip) :yay:

I was on right at 7:00am....then had to leave for my son's doctor appt at about 8:20am....still on hold.

I had started a 2nd call on my cell phone at about 8:00am...but hung up to get in the car. Started another call from the car at 8:20 but hung that up at 8:55 before heading into the doctor's office.

AFTER the doctor visit called from my mom's house at about 10:15am and got through in about 10 minutes (not sure about this morning - maybe not enough CM's answering phones....over an hour is WAY too long to have waited). The good news is I got AS Movies 8/26 - 9/2 but had to upgrade to a preferred room. Oh well - i guess they got an extra $100 or so from me. But I'm very happy. 7 Nights, 2 Ad, 2 children, 1 day base park tickets and FREE dining - $1010. Second room for friends traveling with us - 2 adults 2 kids 6 day base ticket - $1594.

Of course - I already have all my ADR's made. I have to get the other family to do theirs now...

I do realize this was asked earlier, but I notice a lot of people getting the base 1 day ticket for your whole family. Do you all have annual passes you plan on using once you get there? Just curious!

I've been working out the numbers and it seems cheaper to go with package deal (dh only has the AP and we'd just not renew it) and get the length of stay tickets afterall for all of us. It doesn't look like we'll be able to swing 2 trips like I mentioned/asked about this morning (once in July and again in Sept for free dining).

Just wondering!

Thanks,
Deb*

Alot of them are AP holders, but alot of them also dont really know how long of passes they need yet, so they just book 1day, and when they get there they get teh exact length they want and pay for it then.

I like paying for everything I can before I get there. its one less thing to worry about. I was upset they couldnt charge me now for the $10/day fridge rental for my trip to pop in 8/26-9/3, as that will be $80 more I have to pay

I only get one day passes because some member of my party already have tickets. Plus I don't see the point in giving Disney all that extra money 45 days in advance :sad2: We just get the 1 day tickets and then upgrade the ones we need to when we arrive :)

I have an AP and the rest of my family has 10-day PH w/ water parks and more, non-expiring, purchased from an online discount ticket seller. We'll use the 1-day passes another time, or to upgrade to another ticket.

So, I wanted to ask if any of you used someone else's card to make your reservation. A card of a non-family member (so last name is different)? What did they ask you, were there any issues with making that reservation? Did you have the cardholder call, or did you call with their information? I want to be prepared when I call, a friend has graciously offered her card so I can make my plans. Is CRO going to have an issue if I call with her infomation? :confused3

Thanks for any insights you can offer!

Our experience this AM: we used father in law's visa card to book (we have disney visa also so we were covered either way) able to book 4 rooms through Grand Gatherings with this one card. The card had a different last name- just explained that he preferred "more experienced" Disney vacationers to book for the family. Just needed billing address, phone number, name as it appears on card, card number and expiration.

My CM said if I really wanted WL to try back Thursday morning when it goes public. She said they allocate rooms for both Visa free dining and public free dining. So for those of you who doesn't have the Disney Visa try not to worry!:goodvibes

I sure hope that CM was correct!!! I am starting to get really depressed reading all of these - having to wait until Thursday :sad2:

YAY! This gives me hope as my reservations were done through Dreams Unlimited. I can't book until Thursday!

Why no expiration? I see you are new, just want to make sure you are getting the best deal.

Do you plan to use all 7 days this trip?

We realized in 2005 that upgrading to annual passes was definitely the way to go! We got down there with our 1 day passes, and figured that for another $400 (seems like a lot, but SO worth it) we could have annual passes instead of just 10 days. It worked out so fabulously, because we had our annual passes for the next free dining promo, so we didnt have ANY park pass expenses for our 2006 trip. And we used the 1 day tickets bought with our package to get annual water park passes for us all (+ an additional $60).

So, for roughly $1,200 we had unlimited use park and water park annual passes for 2 trips, saved us a TON (apart from the MOST important fact that it prompted DH to use our passes again to get more use out of em)

So, this year, we are upgrading to AP's again, just makes sense for us.:thumbsup2

My TA booked for me at about noon (EDT) today. Got both the resort and dates that I wanted!

POFQ for Sept 16-22

I called at 3pm est and got my choice of values for 2 adults August 31 thu Sep 3 and had no wait on hold! We are going with the kids in October to the BC using the 40% off code. I was undecided on booking for the fd, but dh and I never get to try the restraunts we want when we go with the kids.

Joy :thumbsup2
