Free DDP and switching resorts?

We are booked at ASSp during free dining. We would have like POP, but it was booked for our dates. So, the question is: If the dates were to open up, could we switch without losing the free dining? I asked the agent that booked our trip (and I will NEVER book with an agent again, but that's another story... ) and she said that we would have to rebook and lose the free dining. I hate asking her anything, because she always sounds annoyed with me. I do admit that I ask a ton of questions, but that's my prerogative, right? That's why I booked with an agent- so they could answer my questions!! Ok, vent over- but does anyone know whether I can switch resorts without losing free dining? Thanks!!

You can switch resorts and keep the dining if the new resort has rooms available with free dining. They may rooms available but none with free dining.

I think someone else just made a thread about this today and no, they couldn't switch now because free dining is not being offered anymore and to switch to another resort it was considered a new booking.

When you call to ask about switching your resort, you must ask for Guest Services to make the change. The people who answer the phones at Disney reservations do not have the 'power' or computer access to make this change for you.

Thanks Knox for having the right info!

Wonder if the OP on the other thread knows that?

We called and wanted to extend our stay by 1 day. We were told that since free dining booking period is over that any days added would be without free dining.

I have been told by others that they were able to add a day or two during last years free dining after the booking period was over. Whats the story here and if its possible who do we need to call and what do we ask for?

I was able to add a day today and get the free dining with the rest of my package. However, the CM had to put me on hold and speak with another department he said. Probably the Guest Services that Canadianguy was referring to?

To the OP for future, we booked POP for 9/21 - 9/27 on the last day of the free dining promo (6/24). I called and the CM said it was not available. I checked on-line and it was not available. I put in the date further out, 9/21 thru 10/3 and POP came up as available with the free dining. I booked it and then called and cancelled the days I did not want. I learned this on the DIS :thumbsup2

It is too late to do this since the free dining promo is over, but for the future if your resort shows no availability, play with the dates and then just call and cancel the days you do not want.

Good luck with Guest Relations. I hope you are able to switch. :)
