Husband and I are planning an adults only trip this July while my parents take the kids on vacation of their own to DC. We will be staying for 6 days and have decided to take a "day off" from the parks.

We are currently reserved at Pop, but are seriously considering upgrading to POFQ. If a discount comes out we will certainly be upgrading. And we may go ahead as the cost to upgrade is minimal in the grand scheme of things.

So, what are some things that we can do on an off day besides hitting the pool and relaxing at the resort. We have been to DisneyWorld several times but have always gone commando. We are trying to take a more relaxed approach to this trip.

Thanks!!

We usually stay at POFQ, so I would suggest that if you take a day off you use the boat and visit DTD. Cirque de Soleil show was enjoyable, or perhaps a visit to Raglan Road for Irish dancing? I think that if you are staying at POFQ you should take advantage of having the boat ride available.
Also, YeeHaw Bob at PORS:-)
Have a great trip:-)

ETA- Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk is a lot of fun for adults too!!!

No such thing as a FREE day at Disney! :rotfl2::-)

Just an option... and still relaxing... since you aren't with kids, how about drinking around the world?

I wouldn't count on a discount for POFQ. They have been excluded for the current Spring Discount and several of the others before that one. I think it's worthwhile without a discount.

The boat to DTD is convenient and hassle free. Usually it is only busy around dinner and late at night.

There is a carriage ride at POR.

There is the Scat Cat Lounge at POFQ and/or the River Roost Lounge in POR. Jellyrolls in the Boardwalk area is fun. You would probably want to take a cab to and from.

Spend part of your day looking at some of the luxury resorts. I personally find Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge to be very intersting.

Maybe relax during the day and do an extra Epcot night, just walking around WS.

Or you could go to dinner at one of the monorail resorts and watch the fireworks from there.

Maybe a waterpark?

Have fun planning!

Visit other resorts, you may decide to stay elsewhere in the future. Have a drink at them if so inclined, Drinking Around the Monorail Resorts is nice, afternoon or evenings. Para-sail at MK, do a Segway Tour at Wilderness Lodge (or wherever it is). Take a surrey bike ride, we did the Board Walk thing, which reminds me, hit Board Walk in the evening, there are acts on the 'boards. Also, the Belle Vue Lounge has a nice 2nd flor deck and you can see the aerials of Illuminations from several spots there. The Friendship boats that serve DHS, BW and Epcot are a 'ride'. Hit the pool.

Thank you all for some great suggestions! I can't wait to get to planning even more!

A monorail pub crawl ending with dinner at the California Grill at the top of the Contemporary Resort is nice. You can time it for viewing Wishes from the observation decks. If the budget allows and you are into really fine dining, then dinner at Victoria's and Albert's at the Grand Floridian. It was a fabulous meal, albeit expensive.

On our free days, we relax by the pool and I like to spend some time at DTD, and also resort hop.
Hope y'all have fun on your kids free trip! :)

On our break day, I love to splurge on a pedicure at one of the Disney spas. My feet and legs are always so sore by the half way point . . . and so far, over many trips, the pedicures have always been top drawer. A little pricey, of course, but very good quality. So I would recommend a combo appointment for you and your husband ... maybe a pedicure for you and massage for your husband? Or maybe one of each for both of you?

How about a leisurely brunch at Grand Floridian Café followed by spa appointments at the spa there? :)

We enjoyed our "Lodge" day this past summer. We started out at Wilderness Lodge and did the resort tour. We then took the boat to Fort Wilderness where we walked the trails and enjoyed Tri Circle D Ranch. Then, we headed over to Animal Kingdom Lodge where we enjoyed looking at the resort as well as the animals before a fun dinner at Sanaa. For something more romantic, consider Jiko.

Another fun idea is a monorail day. We like to take a bus to Magic Kingdom and hop on the monorail. We will explore each of the monorail resorts and get meals at them. I love that I can get a Dole Whip at Captain Cook's at Polynesian. Anyway, I like to end our monorail day by taking the Epcot monorail, especially if it is at night. I love that it goes through the park and I can get some great photos of Universe of Energy, Test Track, Mission Space, Imagination, The Land, the Seas, Spaceship Earth, as well as some great shots of the Epcot grounds from the comfort of an air conditioned monorail.

On our off days last trip we went to DTD, walked over to AOA to explore and have lunch (we were also at Pop), hung out by the pool and saw Hoop De Doo (obviously not all in one day!).

We do pretty much all adult trips now as our kids are grown. Our main fun things? Checking out different resorts and their lounges, Strolling through DTD at night, and strolling through WS at EPCOT. It's nice to have time just the two of us that we just get wrapped up in the time together - the activity comes second. Choose on the fly. We've done that lots! :flower:

You could take a boat ride to Fort Wilderness, rent a sea racer to cruise around the water, and then eat at the hoopdeedoo :)
