We are Fort veterans but have spent most of our time the last few years in the parks. Several years ago we took a trip where we only went to the parks 2 days and just goofed around the remaining days. This is still my family's favorite trip. We plan to do that again this year. I was just looking for some suggestions on free to cheap activities. All suggestions are welcome as well as references to similar threads.
Thanks

check out page 3...post titled "What to do with the kids for a week". has some great suggestions!! We are going to do some of those in just a few weeks!! Have a great trip.

Adults? Kids? (ages?) What kinds of things do you enjoy?

We did so much stuff last week! It was a blast! The kids rode ponies, $5, we rented a surry bike at the boardwalk $22 for 1/2 hour for up to 6 people, ice cream at Beaches and cream at Beach Club, mini golf at Winter summerland $12 adults, $10 kids, if you golf at any other Disney mini golf on the same day or next day, and show your receipt, it's 1/2 price for the 2nd game!, dinner at Garden Grove at the Swan hotel, got a $25 gift cert for $2 from restaurant.com( they are at 80% off again, so they are $2 now too!) this is a character dinner with Timon and Rafiki, got a $25 gift cert for House of Blues at Downtown Disney for $2 too! bike riding all over the campground - free!, we brought our own bikes, crafts by the pool every morning are free, there were some more advanced crafts in the afternoon that cost some money, but were fun! Mickey tie-dye shirts $19 each, kids can color their own pins for $1 each, campfire sing along - free, fireworks at the beach - free, don't forget some bug spray, my girls got a bunch of skeeter bites on their legs at the beach.

This is a great thread. Lots of good ideas. Thanks

Don't forget fishing is FREE is you bring your own equipment. Or you can rent for a relatively small fee.

IIRC canoe rentals are pretty reasonable.

Ride WDW transport and check out the other resorts. You can hop the boat to Contemporary and then ride the monorail loop to check out GF & Poly. Switch at TTC and just make the loop to Epcot - really cool at night.

WL is a short boat ride away. Grab a sandwich/snack at Roaring Forks and eat out by the pool. Check out the geiser and roam the lobby.

Along those lines - we love to picnic on the beach at the Fort. BYO or pick up a Giddyap n' Go takeout at TE.

Ride the MK launch at night around the time the fireworks start or similarly, hop over to the Contemp and view Wishes from the 4th floor observation deck.

AKL is a field trip all on its own and I could spend a few hours just roaming around that resort.

One of our traditions is to see every resort especially when they are decorated for the holidays and some of them like Port Orleans, the Beach area of Yacht/Beach, the AKL and The Music and Sports courtyards with the huge statues and figures are neat and we check out the restaurant menus and gift shops. Also, you have the Mini Gold (aka Mini Golf just for MagicBus:lmao:)which is really good if you have an AP. One thing we have never done is just visit the golf courses to see what they have. We just drive and if asked when we flash or resort parking pass which is rare we just stay we are going to the gift shop, etc.

While we ate there when it was the Disney Institute when the restaurant was called IIRC The Seasons this last trip we went to Saratoga Springs and really liked the wraps and sandwiches they now serve at the Artist's Palette and plan to do lunch there this trip.

I second LarryJ's suggestion, especially if you will be here when it is hot outside.

It is a lot of fun to "sleuth" around the resorts looking for hidden mickey's and unusually themed items. Disney pays a lot of attention to detail at the resorts, and so should you. Don't forget to look in obscure nooks. You might find the unexpected. Is there a phone in the lobby on an end table? Pick it up....someone is waiting to talk to you! (Not always - but sometimes)

Have fun!
