Free/Cheap Apps for Tween Girl

We are getting DD12 an iTouch for Christmas. Can you recommend fun (and educational also!) apps that are free or cheap? Thanks!

This is not educational, but my DD & all her friends are pretty addicted to the app Instagram. It's free.
There are tons of free apps, & most kids find what apps they want from other friends.

Don't worry - she'll know. My kids have SO many free apps on their ipod touches and kindles! Whatever the other kids have, she will have. So many are free!

I just took a look at my DD13's apps, here are a few;

Oregon Settler, Tiny Zoo, Alchemy, Magic Piano, Cat Jokes, Warrior Cats, Go Sky Watch, Google Earth, NASA, Solar Walk, Skype, Pandora and many more......

ETA: The educational apps we have are really geared to younger kids, but DD13 does play Stack the States, Presidents vs Aliens, Stack the Countries (this one is hard! Lol) Math Ninja and Monster Physics.

There is an app called Apps Gone Free which is fabulous! We've gotten many very cool free apps that way.
