Can anyone recommend a website I can get free antivirus software?

If you don't mind spending money up front, look on www.slickdeals.net and search for free antivirus. They often post deal about FAR (Free after Rebate) antivirus packages.

We get ours for free from our ISP. Might check there, too.

I have been using AVG for a few years and, knocking on wood, have never had an issue. We do quite a bit of surfing and the AVG seems to be on top of things. I believe the site is www.avg.com if not just google it. Make sure if you chose them that you watch which download now button you are pressing. There is a version that they charge for and sometimes will set up the webpage to look like you have to do the free trial and take advantage of certain offers to get the service. Just read carefully and you'll see the download free version and it's easy schmeezy.

I used to use AVG, but picked up some nasties. My computer guy suggested and loaded Microsoft Security Essentials for me. He thinks that's the best right now. He did say it changes. AVG used to be great, but not so much now. HTH

Yep, I use Microsoft Security Essentials, its free, doesnt take up a lot of resources to run, and no company spam emails like from other free AV products

AVG, Avast, and Microsoft Security Essentials are all good and I would use any of them. I have AVG running on my computer now. Unless you are running an enterprise there is no reason to pay for anti-virus, ever, full-stop.

I was having trouble with DS netbook. It came with McAfee. Downloaded Avast - found a worm that McAfee missed.

I've been using AVG since about '03 or '04 (about). I've tried Avast, Norton and Trend Micro PC-cillin, I keep going back to AVG. Nothing wrong with Avast, just happier with AVG. Norton was nothing but trouble and seemed to be ineffective. Trend came with the pc, free for a year, never bothered extending the license. It worked well for the time I used it.

Microsoft's weak coding is the reason so many trojans can exploit to begin with. Do you actually think one of their antivirus products is going to be any better? Personally I use Nortons because my ISP offers it for free. My wife uses AVG.

We have used AVG in the past without any problems at all. Have actually read many reviews from people in the computer industry. They all said it was the best free one. Before we used AVG we had Mcafee when it was free through our ISP and had all sorts of problems including the conficker virus. Installed AVG and it cleaned our computers right up no problems. Now we have Norton included through our ISP so we have been using that. Would never use Mcafee again even if it were free. So anyone looking to buy an anti-virus I definately recommend Norton. But for free you can't go wrong with AVG. My husband has installed AVG on both of our parents computers and they also have had no problems with it. Just be sure to keep it up to date. That is when people run into problems.

Are these Antiviruses easy to use? I'm not computer savy so I need something not complicated.
