Could we start a new Freebie thread that allows chatting? We'd have the no-talk thread where people can go just for the freebies, and the freebie thread that would allow some discussion/clutter without any fear of reprisals.

Well then, why not just keep the Freebie Thread "pure" and the Freebie posters could repost in the Freap Thread. You would have your Freebies and Chatter too.

I'll try to do whatever I need to in order to keep everyone happy. However, I don't know that I can refrain from occasional comment on the Freebie thread. Sorry.

I really appreciate all the time and effort those generous folks put into hunting down and posting all the freebies and great deals to share with all of us.

It would take me forever to find even 1/10 of all the great stuff they come up with - a HECK of a lot more time than breezing by a few chat posts. It's not like I'm paying for their time and service - they are doing this out of sheer generosity!!!! It's a GIFT, and I'm not going to complain about it!

I think asking them to repost everything on the Freap board is asking too much of their time. Perhaps someone who doesn't like the chat would be willing to do all the reposting?

I'm sorry, but sometimes there's a freebie that begs for comment! And I agree--going back and forth to the Freap thread isn't always workable. Heck, I just started checking out the Freap thread recently.

Wait0 WHY don't the "hardcore freebie people" make their own hardcore freebie thread!

WHY! After all these years do WE need to conform b/c people like to complain! How long has this thread been existence!??? and we have never had a problem before- tell them to go somewhere else!

Sometimes people just need a little reminder about things. I was just reminding people that we have 2 threads going on here. One for Freebies. One for friendly talk. Freap Chat. You know.

The people who post on the freebie thread do so as a service to others. To sit here and tell them that they're doing it wrong is just flat out offensive. A lot of the chatter has been moved to the chat thread, but to expect every bit of it to disappear just because a vocal few can't be bothered to skim through and only read the posts that contain a link is completely unrealistic.

There is only thing more absurd than someone coming into a thread that has existed (quite peacefully) for years and start making demands, and that is everyone giving in to them.

Anyway, I see both sides. Yes, somestimes the chat was a little lengthy. It really wasn't a big issue to me though. To me, it takes longer to check two threads. That's just me though.

I disagree, I don't think I was being mean at all. I was voicing an opinion about a select few people who seem to have once again decided the strict rules of this thread. If I hurt anyone's feelings, really, , I am sorry. But that doesn't change my opinion, I am tired of a few people dictating what the majority is doing. If there is so much more chit chat out there, that means more of us don't mind it than those that do.


I agree with DisneyDotty. I think it would be good idea to have a freebie thread where I don't have to worry about where I am to post a comment. I would still use the chat thread to converse, but spontaneous comments would be welcome. I don't like to walk on eggshells. I also think it would be too much trouble for me to post freebies on two threads, so that would be the one I posted to. Now, who would start the new thread...doesn't matter to me, just tell me where and when.

I hang out on the freebie thread because it is usually free from arguments and controversy. This makes no sense to me at all...getting all in an uproar over a couple of free things in the mail.

Madd - Please don't go. Personally, I like the chat on the freebie thread. Especially since I rarely have a freebie to post, I like to make my presence known and that is usually through a comment. I am probably partially responsible for the people complaining - I posted the stupid ELF deal and there was a lot of chatting about it. So ridiculous for those complainers to get "up in arms" about 1 or 10 or 50 comments. Skip over them - it is not that challenging, right?

Ya know, I mostly lurk on the Freebie thread and I gotta agree with everyone else. If you have a problem with occasional chit-chat then this isn't the thread for you. You know how they say beggars can't be choosers? It really applies here. People who complain about little things like this really just neeed to get over it. I am so tired of everything these days being decided bya few squeaky wheels who demand oil! I say, if you don't like it how it is, go somewhere else. I know that might be mean, but it's not like anyone is paying for this. Someone else is doing the legwork for us, posting freebies, and letting us know the info about them. I don't think we should demand that no chatter take place on occasion. It takes no time to scroll thru the pages.

This is a forum that I "steal" freebies from every once in awhile. There is little to no chit chat on it, as you can see every thread is usually only one post-the freebie post. If there is more than one post, it is usually because someone is saying it doesn't work, or a complaint. If this is what some of you want to be like, I don't think I would like it..the people on this other thread come across as cold and robotic to me. JMO..

Think about this for a second everyone. Everyone who is posting on this thread is doing so because you like the chat. Those who don't aren't posting their thoughts. They don't post to this thread. So we aren't seeing a true representation of how people feel.

Some of you are saying that that Freebie Threads have gone on for years without a complaint. That is not true. Why do you think that the Freap Chat Thread was started? People complained about the clutter on the Freebie Thread. So that people could take their chattiness to a thread that was meant for that - chatting.

We are not going to move posts from the Freebie Thread that are "chatty." Nor are we going to allow another thread for Freebies. That would be ridiculous. What this is going to take is a bit of compromise. The people who like JUST Freebies can put up with a bit of banter on the thread. The people who like to chat can show some restraint and try to keep the bulk of the chat on the Freap Chat thread. What do you think?
