FREAP CHAT ~ Everyone Welcome!

Back from vacation- had a wonderful time- however, I somehow hurt my back while in Mexico on Thursday and I still cannot sit up straight- pretty much I can lay flat or stand up.

Went to hotel doc 12:30am Sat morning- yes, the morning we were going home- shot me up with 2 anti-inflammatories- no relief.

Spent 5 hours in the ER yesterday, got a CT scan, urinalysis- blood work-all negative for kidney stones. They shot me up with morphine and Toridol- neither helped! They then gave me a Valium for the spasms- and yay! that worked- but the doc did not want to give me a rx for Valium b/c he was already giving me a rx for Motrin, Percocet and Flexeril- too many narcotics. UGH- why cant he give me what worked for me!?

Needless to say- I am just a tad bit loopy!

Called my boss to tell her I cannot sit very well to work. She put me in the schedule to get a MRI at our facility tomorrow night.

That's all for now- miss you guys!

Welcome home. We missed you. Sorry to hear that your back is not well. I have valium and could use percocet. So we could trade.:lmao:
Let us know how you MRI goes.

Is anyone else coughing up a lung with this darn crud that lasts for weeks!?? I am so tired of coughing!! :headache:

Have you guys tried Delsym cough medicine? DS's ped recommened it a couple of years ago, we use it for coughs. It lasts 12 hours, good stuff w/o prescription..

Hope you and yours are feeling better really soon. I was worried, I had a sore throat again yesterday, but it's almost gone today. I did my time for this season..please not again..

Goin' to bed now. I hope madd is OK, was she having the MRI today? What a bummer to hurt your back in another county..Mexico of all places..

g'nite y'all.

Hey freaps!

I have been trying to keep up and yay! there is going to be a freap meet! Yes- I like the visuals so be sure to take pics! I hope you all have a great time!

I can't believe we still have some sick freaps  and some freap surgeries scheduled and canceled:confused3

Just one big :grouphug: to everyone!

I am still not able to sit straight up- so I had to make a "make-shift" desk today- I had to put 2 envelope boxes on top of my desk, place my keyboard on one and my mouse on the other- stand up and work all day:rotfl2:

The percocets and motrin have made my pain- a dull ache instead of sharp, hitting a nerve, pain. I am going to stop taking the Flexeril- I woke up this morning and my eyes were a bit swollen, and my arm felt a bit numb. I read the paperwork that came with the RX and numbness was a side-effect so I do not want to take a chance on continue to take it.

OMG- I was so scared when I was in the ER- the doc said they would give me something for the pain so they placed an IV and the nurse explained she was giving me Dilaudid- however, she was only giving me a tiny bit at a time b/c if she put it in the IV all at once it can cause me to puke. She told me I have to relax b/c it will make me feel really funny at first. Well- she starts to push it and OMG- I said, NO MORE! NO MORE! It is making me feel funny! She said it is very common for people who are "control freaks" (THAT'S ME) not to be able to handle it. She had to "talk me down" from the weirdness I was feeling! Once I relaxed I felt better- my head was woozy, but I still had back pain:sad2: She asked me if I wanted more- and I said no way! I thought I was going to freak out when she gave it to me! :scared:

As far as my vacation went- it was great even though DH did not start feeling better (maybe 50%) until about Tuesday- We arrived on Saturday, ate, I had about 4 glasses of champagne (and YES! they were flowing freely at the resort!:cool1: ) and we went to bed around 3pm that afternoon and did not get up until 7:30 am on Sunday!!:dance3:

The resort was HUGE! Each bldg had their own concierge. I mentioned before it was very modern- the grounds reminded me more of Brazil than Mexico- lots of trees and greenery- It was pretty. TONS of iguanas everywhere. The staff was so friendly!

Their theater was huge also- one night they did The Lion King on stage. NOT as good as the Disney production, but still entertaining.

DH finally felt almost 100% on Friday- yes, the day before we left- he snorkeled at the resort all day. He said the snorkeling was great. I was not up to par to float around in the cold water. But you can see the fish as soon as you stepped into the water from the beach it was pretty cool. So I was standing in the middle of the fish for a while checking them out.

Thursday was the day I started with my back/leg pain. My back was hurting on and off starting Tuesday but then on Thursday I started have pain in my groin area, down the front of my leg and into my knee! I have felt this pain before b/c I have had sciatic problems for almost 12 years now. But as the day went on, the pain worsened. I could not sit up straight to eat and that was odd. At times I was in so much pain trying to walk that I would have to stop:confused3 This was all new to me! So what did I do to ease the pain- oh, 3 shots of tequila:lmao: Bite the lime- shot one, bite the lime, shot 2, bite the lime shot 3!:lmao: -- lay on the lounge chair and bub-bye!:rotfl2: I never did shots of tequila before- let me tell ya- tequila is GOOOOOD!

Even though DH was sick and then I was not feeling well, We still did our routine of waking up whenever, go down to the beach- stake out our hut, sit for a bit, go eat breakfast and then lay on the beach until about 4 or 5 (eating more in between). Go back to the room- take a shower, nap until maybe 8pm, then go to dinner, and see a show @ 9:30.

We booked our vacation through Apple, every Friday at this hotel they have an "Apple Reception" for all of their Apple guests. They put an invite with 2 nice shot glasses at your door. They have a steak and lobster night on the beach. It was a huge buffet they had a band, a gigantic cake for the guests- there were 10 people per table and you got to meet the other guests. The Apple reps and hotel manager and staff came around and introduced themselves. It was a nice little extra.

PS- I think I may have gotten totally screwed at the Cancun Airport- they had a drugstore in the airport- I asked the guy if they had anything stronger than Advil (for my pain on plane ride!) He said they had Vicodan- so I bought it for 60.00 USD- I Googled the ingredients when I got home and it seems they might only be TYLENOL! Anywho- I took one of those and then I bought some kind of anti-inflammatory patch and slapped that on my back and the combo made the plane ride bearable. DH also asked for seats near the emergency door - they have more leg room, and that helped also. Of course, if there was an emergency I would be the last person that would be able to assist ANYONE out of the plane with the pain I was in:rotfl2: But I had to give a verbal "yes" when the flight attendant asked me if I was willing and able.

Sorry so long-

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I can't take Flexeril. After a couple of days, I can't get out of bed or hardly even wake up. I am such a drug wimp!

It sounds like you had a great vacation planned, I am so sorry your back acted up on you. Sounds like maybe you need some nerve blocking injections....have you tried that before? Do you think the plane ride down was too much for your back nerves and it flared up terrible from that?

Despite your discomfort, you are giving wonderful descriptions of your vacation! I like to live vicariously.....

I am still working on my trip report and downsizing photos....

DH is coughing still. I thought he was just faking it:lmao:
My DH keeps reminding me that he coughed the entire 3 weeks that he was sick. :scared:

I will have to try some of that. I have been using my Advair and I am not sure I am supposed to be using that asthma medication before the surgery. They told me they HAVE to put me to sleep for this one and I am not looking forward to this. They are gonna have to get me to sleep fast or I may try to get off the table and walk out....it's a fight or flight thing, I think.

I had a slight sore throat for 2 days again last week and I thought the same thing you did....here we go again! But, it went away. This crud is very weird...and it seems to be everywhere!! :confused3

Went downstairs to ask DH, he says, "I thought I told you about that a MONTH AGO?" Well folks, if you have been visiting the LOSER thread, you will know that my house is not fit for any surprise visitation..I need at LEAST a week's notice. at least he is not spending the night, and it looks like I have until Thursday afternoon...we will see...what he will see...

I have to tell you guys about my "tequila incident" from a few years ago.

It was our wedding anniversary and a dear friend was living with us at the time. He really wanted us to go out for dinner and sent us to this great little Mexican place in Davis Square. We had a great dinner - This place had a Tequila Bar and had tequila tasting and a rating system and stuff.

Instead of doing the tastings there, we wrote down the names and went to our liquor store and picked up the 4 different tequilas to try at home with our friend Paul.

I set everything up, tequila, limes, salt, shot glasses. We did our tasting that night

. Everything was fine (I had about 5-6 shots in an hour or so). The boys were discussing the finer points of one tequila vs another - I was tired and decided to go to bed (now remember our house is 3 stories high and our bedroom is on the 3rd floor). By the time I made it from the kitchen to our bedroom I was in BAD shape.

I ended up on the floor in my bedroom, *hanging* onto the floor. I SWEAR I felt like I would "fall off" if I let go.:rotfl: I was nauseaous, I just felt like I had to HANG ON for dear life.

When DH finally came upstairs and found me on the floor I was like "no I don't want to move, just throw a blanket over me, I'll be happy down here"

He literally had to pick me up off the floor and carry me to bed. I still felt like I had to hang onto the bed while lying down so that I wouldn't "fall off"

Needless to say no more tequila for me...

Yep...the drunkest I have ever been in my entire life was from Tequila shots. I don't think I fell asleep, I think I actually passed out. I was sicker than a dog the next day. One margarita is my limit now. a small one...I do love them so..

Ok, I'm off to do some work for real, now.

I LUUUUVVVVV Tequila! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 But my husband tells me it makes me take my clothes off...???...WHAT? I don't remember taking my clothes off???? :lmao: Apparently that's true...because it seems that everywhere I go our friends order me shots of tequila! I think I'm like a guinea pig to them! They are trying to figure out the exact number of ounces it takes to make me...well...I guess take some clothing off??? Go figure? :lmao:
