I am totally freaking out. I purchased 2 items from E-Bay, a Dooney wallet & a replacement hard drive for our laptop. Two seperate sellers. I've been tracking my items & nothing received & they were supposed to be out for delivery. I check now & items indicate from USPS that they were delivered :scared1: I never received the items.

We left for my son's flagfootball at 8 am & were back by 11 am. Items were delivered at 9:43 am, per the USPS website. What do I do ??? Post office is closed. DH will go Monday with the printouts but what if the items were stolen ?? This is a lot of $ for us. These were our wedding anniversary presents to each other :sad1:

Well, in the past, "delivered" with USPS Delivery Confirmation usually meant "delivered to the local post office". And then later (that day, next day, that week) the carrier would bring it to you.

And no they never said that out loud to customers; but they sure told amazon reps that! (I did amazon customer service)

So I don't know if it's still like that.

I didn't catch where you are, but if you have snow, check everywhere that could appear to have shelter. If snow has been falling, check places that might not have been snowy but are now.

If you have a back door, check there. If you have a vehicle with an open window/door, if you have an open garage, check those places. Mail carriers and other deliverypeople have been known to put things in WEIRD places!

Check with any and all neighbors. etc etc.

I don't know if this helps or not, but I can say that the delivery time listed on the USPS site hasn't always been accurate in my experience (as in, is has said it had been delivered when it didn't come until later - guessing maybe that's when it says it went out perhaps). I wouldn't panic just yet.

Thanks guys ! As soon as I was reading your posts, the mail truck pulls up. They were running behind because of the rain  What a huge relief.

I was so totally freaked because our neighbor had told us she had someone knocking on doors asking for $, when we pulled up after football. So I just totally freaked :lmao:

I have had this same thing happen to me with a purchase from Ebay. The delivery web site showed that the item was delivered, but I never received it. My mail person delivered it to the wrong house, and marked it online as delivered. Luckily, my neighbor brought it over. This could have ended badly if my neighbor hadn't been honest.

That's happened to me too. I will never, ever, pay for delivery confirmation because it's not worth the paper it's written on. In my case, the PO delivered it several blocks away. Neither the house number nor the street were in any way similar. The only thing similar was the last name, and even that wasn't exactly the same. Can imagine that?

I agree. The only thing delivery confirmation is good for is to pay the Post Office extra money to actually do the job they've agreed to do for the postage you've already paid on the package. It just says the package was delivered, not that it was actually delivered to the correct person or address.

Between the rate increases and the unreliability, the USPS just isn't worth it anymore. Almost everything I ship goes by UPS or FedEx.

UPS put a package at one of our doors that had been sealed off for YEARS. He couldn't have thought it was in use, even though it did face the driveway more than any other.

The USPS has a form you can fill out if you have a preferred location for things to be left. Our substitute carrier ask me to fill one out, but the regular carrier will open the door of one of the cars in the driveway and put a package there at times.

UPS and FedEX ship things to post offices for local delivery by the USPS carriers. They can pay the USPS fees to do the actual delivery in residential areas and on Saturday and still make money. You know they have to charge more than directly shipping with the USPS to be able to afford that.
