I too am a survivor! I have been going through a similar process to you right now. Just know that you are wonderfully strong and often these "call backs" are more emotionally draining than anything else.

So, some of you know (and can tell by my tag) that I had cancer before. Well, I had my very first mammogram last week and they just called me to tell me they want me to come back in. I realize that it can turn out to be nothing but I'm freaking out right now in a complete panic. Please pray for me. I just don't know that I can do it a second time.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers. These days, doctors are more cautious about things, especially when there is cancer in the family or the patient has had any cancer, and it's better to be safe than sorry. Think positive thoughts and let us know how everything goes.

But if it turns out to be something you can do it again. You have become a stronger person from when you went thru it before. Just draw on that.

Guess I can join in w/ the other Survivors and say that with my first mamm after treatment, my surgeon told me it looked like "I had a new cancer". Turned out it wasn't, but it took weeks of testing and worry to get to the bottom of it. (I also had to have a biopsy even before I had BC, in a whole other area - also negative.)

I agree they're probably just being extra cautious, especially "given your history" (gotta get used to that term now, but it's probably not a bad thing for them to be extra cautious). Even without a cancer history, they're being very careful today. Hang in there.

One more thing: I had a mammo a few weeks ago, and my radiology place had switched to digital machines. They warned me ahead of time that these machines are picking up way more than the old ones, and that they are getting far more call backs than they used to. The things they are picking up are NOT cancer, but they have to call back to double check anyway.

I'm glad you don't have to wait long!

I'm doing okay. Thanks everyone for your encouragement. I really need it today, that's for sure. I'm done crying now. I think I cried off and on almost all day, then my whole head started to ache and I realized that all that crying wasn't going to get me anywhere.

So, I'm hanging out, watching some TV and trying not to think about it every second. It's not working but I'm trying! I'm going to pack a bit for our trip, we leave in 11 days. (no matter what I'm going on this vacation!) Hopefully packing and making a list of things I need to get will help keep my mind busy.
