First off I have not been to cruise board before, so I apologize if the answer to this question is obvious to the veterans here.

My sister has a land sea cruise package. They are suppose to fly out this Sunday (9/5), stay at Disney for four nights, and then do a three day cruise on Thursday (9/9). Now I don’t think there is any way they are going to be able to fly out Sunday. It is just not going to happen with the hurricane. However, it is my understanding that she can not cancel the trip because of the cruise and the restrictive policies associated with canceling a cruise. She is also saying because it is a package, she can not cancel the land portion.

Does anyone know if they can change the reservation such that they could do the cruise portion first, and then do the four days at Disney afterwards? Are there any other options that someone here may be aware of?

I know there is an announcement today at 1:00 PM, but that looks to be concerning the cruises for the 4th and 5th. Her problem is that the land portion starts the 5th.

First of all. welcome to the cruise boards. The hurricane will probably effect the parks as well as the cruise. Your sister should stay in touch with Disney. I suggest she wait until the announcement this afternoon. Then contact the Walt Disney Travel Company to assess her options.

My advice is to have her call Disney (or her travel agent if she used one) as soon as possible. It is entirely possible that the Orlando airport will be closed on Sunday. Disney is usually very good about waiving cancellation fees when something like a hurricane happens.

Call now...............

DCL is making an official announcement today at 1pm (12pm Central Time). I would tune in for that then call depending on what they say.

I copied this from another thread. Have your sister call Disney
ASAP. I am sure they are not expecting her on Sunday!

News Just Posted From Dcl
From WebSite:

Currently, we are monitoring Hurricane Frances very closely. At this time, it is probable that the storm will impact air travel into the Central Florida area through Sunday. Given this information, we have decided to modify the Disney Magic sailing scheduled to begin on Saturday, September 4th and the Disney Wonder sailing scheduled to depart on September 5th.

The Disney Magic will now sail on Monday, September 6th on a 5-night voyage and the Disney Wonder will also sail on Monday, September 6th on a 3-night voyage. Both ships are scheduled to depart from Port Canaveral.

Guests sailing on one of these voyages are currently being contacted by our Reservations staff.

My sister has been unable to get through on the phone.

She is calling 866-724-5325. I guess the number for the land sea package is different from the W-DISNEY number I call for resort reservations.

My sister finally got through to DCL around 7:00 PM Central time (Thursday). They told her that everything was a go. They expect the Orlando airport to be open Sunday morning. They expect Disney to be open Sunday morning. So she is still scheduled to fly into Orlando at 11:00 AM. She will spend Sunday through Wednesday at D-World and then cruise Thursday through Sunday.

It seems optimistic to me, but hey……….. only god knows what Frances is going to do.
